Complicated systems with over rides and auto adjustments are there but if they are not designed for "all" eventualities then there is trouble. Serious trouble. Both accident links point to some sort of human system error issues.

Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency has retrieved complete fuselage, wings and other parts of Flight QZ8501 from the seabed.
