Confirmed: Fast and Furious 8 release in April 2017

Fast and Furious 7 hasn’t left theatres yet and many believed the movie would be final iteration of the franchise. However, recent reports confirm that the movie will be released in its 8th edition on April 14, 2017.

The announcement was made in Las Vegas by Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Toretto at CinemaCon – a gathering of the theatre owners in the USA. It was the same location where Diesel and the late Paul Walker announced confirmed the release of Furious 7, back in 2013. Furious 7 has gone on to gross over $1 billion globally, in less than a month of its release.

Further details on the project, its cast or storyline have not been revealed, but sufficed to say – the fans are waiting.

From what I've read on other movie sites is that they let Brian O Connor becomes the family man he needs to be and the rest of the team go on their normal adventures. So the character isnt actually dead but isnt in the movie. I guess that would also mean resting out Jordana Brewster who plays Mia in the movie.

Probably will be the case if the storyline goes that way. Her role lost its relevance over the series anyway.

I was genuinely concerned about the series being milked anyway and thought they would end it with the last iteration that had Walker. I will definitely watch Furious 8, but going by what I saw in Furious 7, I'm not holding my breath in anticipation.

Why am I not too excited by this news? Ah, the headache from Furious 7 has yet to subside - my review.

I wish instalment 8 brings back the magic of the 'fast and the furious', but am not too optimistic. It's become an out & out masala flick for the masses...no longer a car movie for enthusiasts.

If one wants to see cars performing unbelievable and / or ridiculous stunts, no need to look beyond bollywood:

I haven't watched 7 yet but I honestly think what they are doing is too much milking.

They should have stopped it with the 3rd ideally but it went till 6th anyways and the 7th part could be said to be a tribute to Paul Walker , but now 8 !!! really ??

They really should stop with Furious 7. Personally think that the movie was successful because of the death of Paul Walker. Take that out and what we have is an over the top action film where cars are no longer the centre of focus. Haven't they milked it enough already?

The Fast and the Furious has gone the Top Gear way. Its now and has been for the past 3 movies or so, less about cars and racing and more about action and entertainment. I guess they chose that route because that's what sells and that's what majority of the people wants to see. I like to keep an open mind while seeing a movie and enjoy it for what it really is. And by doing that I have really enjoyed all Fast and the Furious films except for the 2nd movie. The 2nd one was a bit poor.

Well, the series should have ended with the 5th part itself! But going by the collections of the latest one, I don't think they'll put an end to this before making the 10th installment of the franchise. Why kill the goose that lays golden eggs!!

F&F 7 is not what fans thrive for, flashy cars have gone as is the delight
