@tsk1979,
Thanks for this wonderful site.
Do you receive the goods at your home address or have to collect from the customs?

I have bought mostly when I was in the US. Right now first time purchase from India.
They have shipped it via Airmail. Lets see what happens. Whether I get a call from customs!?
When I ordered a book from Amazon, it landed directly at my office address.

If it's via airmail then it will reach @ your doorstep in just 5-10 days & you don't have to pay any duty + your parcel will not tampered for checking (Dhl tampered it )

USPS is good, cheap & reliable. I have got 2 things through them. You will have to go and collect it from your local post office.

LCDs and Plasmas have issues if you lay them flat for a long time, or handle them carelessly. Your aunt will have to stick your TV in a giant suitcase, that is going to be tossed, and thrown around multiple airports. I think they throw it violently if you stick a "Fragile" tag on it.

Another option is to checkin the TV in its original box with all the factory packaging. You can be assured that the customs guys eye will be on it. Although I have never had to pay any duty or bribes when I get stuff for my parents, cousins, & friends, its a PITA after a long flight.

Most LCD TVs are 110V/220V NTSC/PAL capable, but if you need to buy a voltage adapter, or deal with video format issues, you are better off buying a TV from a local dealer, and save your aunt the trouble.

When i went to ebay us, it asks me to verify myself with a credit card. Did you have to do that too? Or do i have to create an id for ebay us instead of using my indian id? Does he have HID kits?
