Re: Which movie car would you drive?

1. This is Jesse Mach, an ex-motorcycle cop, injured in the line of duty. Now a police troubleshooter, he's been recruited for a top secret government mission to ride Street Hawk -- an all-terrain attack motorcycle designed to fight urban crime, capable of incredible speeds up to three hundred miles an hour, and immense firepower. Only one man, federal agent Norman Tuttle, knows Jesse Mach's true identity. The man, the machine, Street Hawk

2. KITT : Knight Industries Two Thousand

Re: Which movie car would you drive?

Although it doesn't qualify as a movie, but my favorite vehicles are those from the cartoon series 'Swat Kats: The Radical squadron'.

I specifically like their tow-truck which they modify for emergency. A flick of a button and it coverts into 'Thunder Truck', the boring speedometer converts into a cool MID and the thrusters that pop out from the rear still gives goosebumps.

Anyone who has seen that episode will surely remember that transformation

I will be hitting 30s next year and I still watch the series with the same child-like excitement !

The Swat Kats plane was my favourite as a kid! I just looked at the image now to remind myself and it looks nothing like I remember It was a badass plane. I also liked the seaplane Baloo flew in 'Tailspin'.

My favourite too! Even the Cannonball Run Countach, the sound of which, was too die for.

Here's my list beyond

The Miura in the opening scene of the original Italian Job

Surprising that no one brought this up! Both The Charger and the 'stang in the Bullit

Something more recent, AE86 from Initial D!

Something Indian, that too driven by none other than Big B!

Steve Mcqueen Bullitt Mustang for me.

The chase between the Charger and the Mustang was touted as the worlds best car chase by Jeremy Clarkson.

Oh, and remember the movie Rogue Assasin, starring Jason Statham and Jet Li. The Spyker C8 driven by Li is as exotic as it gets:

Re: Which movie car would you drive?

That wonderful Nautilus Car driven by Naseeruddin Shah's Captain Nemo character, in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003):

As for chase sequences, stunt driver Bill Hickman who drove Steve McQueen's car in Bullitt (1968), also drove Gene Hackman's car in The French Connection (1971).

The catch?

The whole chase sequence was filmed directly on New York City's uncleared streets during peak traffic hours!

Plenty of unsuspecting drivers and pedestrians were caught unawares and became a part of movie history.

Quote:
The car chase was filmed without obtaining the proper permits from the city. Members of the NYPD's tactical force helped control traffic. But most of the control was achieved by the assistant directors with the help of off-duty NYPD officers, many of whom had been involved in the actual case.
The assistant directors, under the supervision of Terence A. Donnelly, cleared traffic for approximately five blocks in each direction. Permission was given to literally control the traffic signals on those streets where they ran the chase car.

Even so, in many instances, they illegally continued the chase into sections with no traffic control, where they actually had to evade real traffic and pedestrians. Many of the (near) collisions in the movie were therefore real and not planned (with the exception of the near-miss of the lady with the baby carriage, which was carefully rehearsed).

The car crash during the chase sequence, at the intersection of Stillwell Ave. and 86th St., was unplanned and was included because of its realism. The man whose car was hit had just left his house a few blocks from the intersection to go to work and was unaware that a car chase was being filmed. The producers later paid the bill for the repairs to his car.
