Hey guys,

I know this car. I had seen it at Sunil Shanbaghs workshop, where it had come down for some minor work. Apparently the owner picked it up for 5.5L and spent 2.5L on restoring it. Its got an amazing shade of red (almost Ferrari red), spartan interiors and pretty sound mechanicals.

A steal for under 10L

Is it a 944 or a 944S ?

IMO 10L for a 944 isnt really a steal.....

I know some1 who bought a 944S (for a lot cheaper) and is having problems with it, as well as a close friend who bought a 944 for 3k-6k$, having a few problems with it too!

Picking up a second hand car is quite a risk in my opinion, but if you are willing to slave over it and suffer through hours of frustration its worth it!

cheers

Hey Dippy,
Its precisely that that would make me not go for this car.
2.5L to "do it up" just seems like there was a lot more wrong with it than there should have been.
But then again it is a matter or opinion, i just tend to not like mechanical things that are 2nd hand.

Cheers

I would also recomment to stay out..

I have had a bad experience with cars that were worked on...

second hand buying is not a problem..it is more sensible than going and buying a new car..if u are getting a fairly new(used) car..since you can save a ton of money..

my friend bought a mint S320 /w 2000 kms on it for 48 after everything..which is like 9 odd less..plus the car was 6months old..so..u can get good deals in used car market..but have to be carefull..i am with rehan on this..to stay away from this..

Cheers..

The car has been on sale for a long time. Used to be parked in an apartment in Colaba - same place where Ratan Tata lives. Spend a long of time standing still - not good for a car

if the amount is spent on the body and interiors its ok i guess. But if its spent under the bonnet, i guess there must have been some serious problems.

Apparently the 2.5 L odd that has been spent on this car has been on the body work, suspension and the odd petrol/air filter. 2.5 L would not buy you bolts for a discontinued Porsche 944.
