On Forest Flattening & Mining

On one hand I read about the Indian Railways pushing hard for powering our trains using the energy from the sun (Solar panels besides railway tracks), the country making progress in its use of natural and renewable source of energy and then you find these news articles. This news made me sad when I read it. Reminded me of the film Newton. While you do need to do certain things to make progress, flattening our forests isn't one of them.

After reading this ^^ article, I read this;

If this is what we are going to be up against, that is outright scary.

Well if you see history of mankind and the "progress" that we talk about - it is always progress of human wants vs other creatures.

Not just one but many such news appear often for example

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com...w/67416228.cms

They appear in spaces which hardly gets any notice and even if it does, who cares? What can an individual do in this regard? We can only use our voting rights to influence the mindset of ecological protection.

Even the recently discussed Kollam bypass is a violation on nature.

Not just forests but equally coastal nature is under threat.

Unfortunate, it all boils down to the nexus between money makers and policy makers.

Here is a google maps snap of KIOCL amidst Shola grass lands. Although mining has stopped, damage is already done, God knows how many years to remediate or will it ever ?

The Rann of Lakya dam stands as a testimony of man vs. Nature.

Lakya dam is a pollution control dam, which holds back the solidified slurry waste.
