Yes indeed there are 4 volvo buses which are "Maharaja's" in themselves with a dedicated lane sealed off for them under the BRT scheme. Damn!! the only good drivable roads are now full of traffic.

I am sure those who have seen the state in which PMT buses run will fall off their chairs reading this.

Awesome website! I am impressed. Typical Govt sites are after thoughts and done simply because they have to have something to show. This one looks quite useful.

I wonder who is the idiot who thought of this idea? Already narrow congested roads made even more narrow and congested. And the dedicated lane is empty most of the time. Plus you have to be careful not to run into the barriers/stones placed to demark the dedicated lane, which suddenly appear out of nowhere when you overtake too enthusiastically (especially at night). I predict that trucks will regularly make a mash of these barriers/stones.

My frustration in my daily city drives to my office has reached boiling point. As I was maniacally zipping through the traffic in my Santro, a cyclist made matters worse by coming up to my side in a jam and abusing me:

"Dimag karab hain kya? Itni jaldi kyon?"

Since it is my daily route to the office, I was prudent not to start an argument (the locals would have ganged up all too quickly).

The Pune Metropolitan Transport (PMT) is retiring 142 buses from 1st August 2007. These 1990-1995 rattlers will be sold as scrap. And high time too!

The PMT will be left with 874 buses after these 142 are taken off the road.

For comparision, Mumbai's BEST has 3,380 buses. These carrying 45,00,000 commuters every day on 335 different bus routes.

How many do Delhi and Bangalore have?
