The Auto scenario is changing so fast so here is my updated list(below 25lakhs)-
1.Skoda Superb 1.8TSi -For being a Car that feels and drives like much more expensive cars.
2.Toyota Fortuner- Allrounder proper SUV with class best Dynamics and performance, still being priced very well. Wish it had better interiors and a Auto transmission option.
3.Skoda Laura 1.8TSi- Super performance with handling to match without compromising on comfort,FE and price.
4.Fiat Punto and Linea- Rock Solid cars with great dynamics and diesel economy. Only if they had more powerful engines
5.Hyundai i10- Light controls and easy manouverability with peppy engines and lots of loaded variants.
can only post from those i have driven
1. Honda Accord- Nothing can come close, driven in the US and india, honda is a honda after all.
2. Toyota Corolla- The japs rock, driven again in the US and in india too- superb value for money and engine that can last a lifetime of abuse
3. Fiat Linea- great car but for fiats apathetic attitude can beat any top category sedan
4. Hyundai Getz: The best family hatch, superb ride and what a space. Interior space as big and bigger than some C class sedans. Pioneer in Large hatch only to be beaten by the Swift due to Maruti tag and better looks but a fantastic deal at its time
5. Hyundai i-10: the pioneer of bringing in beige interiors in a small car and the mounted gears...what superb handling in city...am sure on its way to be an all time best seller
If i could add- will surely add the Maruti Alto- best entry level car for a small budget
My 5 would be:
Swift(D): Bold looks, good power, from the Maruti Stable whats not to like
Baleno: i dont what it is but i really love this car
Corolla Altis: Toyota reliability and beautifully designed
Innova: toyota again, spacious, comfortable and driving it is fun
RR Sport(now that Mr Tata has bought it to india): do i need to say anything.. :)

3. Hyundai i-20( for in city commute)
4. Honda City-
5. Hyundai i-10( for wife:))
I won't mention Audis and other high profile cars that are built here since they would just steamroll the more "normal" competition.
1. Hyundai Santro (near bullet proof reliability)

3. Honda City ANHC (the perfect mid segment/price car)
4. Fiat Linea (the heart throb car)
