Is there a reason? How long can you stand and work?
Also, welcome to Tbhp from Hyd. |
Initially I used to get tired after 1 hour. But now I keep walking around every 30-45 minutes. Meetings are in conference rooms where I get to sit. But now I can work for 2 hours standing.
This has helped me in focusing on the work and burn more calories as well lol:
Working remotely for foreseeable future, here is my minimalist desk.

My work doesn't let me work from home. If I've to shut my clinic, I'll be at home with no work! I have 2 consultation chambers, one at home and one in main area. I am going to both the places as of today but may stop working at the outside clinic if things go out of hand. I'm taking necessary precautions. No elective surgical cases right now. If any emergency is there, I redirect them to a bigger center. I'm even asking my patients about their travel history of last 2 months. Let's see how it proceeds.
Lovely seeing so many well maintained home offices. Sadly, I don't have one. Self employed and my work constitutes being in my Delhi office and travel around NCR. Nothing to do from home. However, if ever the need arises some day i will be taking cue from this thread :)
You guys are lucky being able to work from home. Some of the home-office set ups, I must say, are very impressive. clap:
I am a doctor, an Orthopaedic surgeon, so unable to work from home. At present I have cancelled my smaller peripheral clinic and I am attending at the larger hospital, number of patients have reduced significantly, a few patients are trickling through. Not doing any elective surgeries.
The staff and all the working doctors are strictly following the necessary hand hygiene precautions and staying away from contact with fomites. Might stay at home if the hospital decides that only emergencies will be seen.
Stay safe.
Cheerio!:)

For a doctor you have a weird username lol:

Hey- this chair looks very nice/comfy. If I may, is it available online? |
Yes, it's from Amazon.

The worst setup. This is the reason I always try to avoid WFH.

As someone else said, excellent thread idea!
Just moved into a new house, so with the courtesy of IKEA, I was able to get my dream setup.
Here's the place where my dreams and imagination come to life! (I'm an author, so I mean that literally :D) |
Nice monitor. Too big ?

Love that adjustable desk. what is the cost and model ? where did you purchase it from ?

The dual monitor is super useful during collaboration or doing lookup. The vertical monitor is apt for coding and even browsing. Team-Bhp renders pretty well with a vertically aligned monitor.
|
Yeah the the vertically mounted monitors are the new trend.

Love the way you've utilised all of the available space. Beautifully efficient!
I'd recommend adding a table that can increase in height to double up as a standing desk. And some small plants if that interests you. |
Thanks for responding. Sure, size and fitment has to be adjusted. Added the plant as suggested.
30kms away from Ooty town.

Wow, you people have some neat rigs set up. Mine is simple and basic.
I'm in nook next to my terrace landing. Can always step out to stretch, walk a bit and what not. 50% of my work is done here in normal service.
In these times of the COVID-19 Virus it is 100% now. Had a high speed connection back when i used to game, but with growing boys and a CTS issue. I had to dial down a bit. But all my work needs a large screen (square), mouse and the keyboard hence the desktop is critical and portable devices don't play much role in my setup.
Will get hot a bit in Summer. But it is a cozy space. I have an old GE fan, has quite a hum which can get addictive when you get into your zone while working.
Stay safe guys, wash your hands regularly.

Very interesting thread, I am blown away by the constructive use of space many people here are doing. But also scared of the unergonomic setup people have as someone who has been working in tech for a long time and have had health issues because of my posture.
I tried finding older work setup pictures as-well and have a few here.
I always preferred desktops for raw power and upgradability and use to own a laptop as a portable machine to do some work. I've been exclusively on Apple systems since ~1999-2000 my last Windows Desktop shipped with flagship Windows Me and last Windows Laptop was Alienware M14x in 2009.
21' iMac Circa 2007-08
When I tried using the TV as a monitor, was only good for some games.
27' iMac
Upgraded from Dell 21.5 for 34inch LG Ultrawide
Minimilast Setup
I had to upgrade my Macbook Pro from 13' -> 15' ->16' to support my new screen
The new 49' LG Super Ultra Wide is an absolute Unit. Has taken up all the space on my desk and is equivalent to 3x normal monitors. You can understand it's size by the desk and speakers. This thing might actually be too big. :D
Here is another picture to give you idea of its size. Thats a 16' Macbook Pro and iPhone 11 Pro for size comparison.
I used a Harman Miller Aeron Remastered Chair but now want to get a standing desk full time.

The brand is called Zenith. I flicked one when we vacated our old office. Not sure how much it cost new as we got around 10 used desks from a reseller for around 8k each. This is very sturdy and easy to use.
