Opel Astra is a solidly built car ....
It wasnt exposed properly to Indian Automotive Scene ....
I love Astra for its styling , Comfort and Drive ....
and Automatic is Heaven when you drive in India's most congested city ... Hyderabad .....

If anyone wants to know why I Love AStra ........ check out OVERDRIVE mags 40 car shootout ..

YES .... AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CARS ARE MADE IN INDIA

Maruti has offered Auto in Zen and Esteem
Hyundai has offered it in Santro
Skoda has it in Octavia and Superb
Toyota has it in Corolla
Honda has in Old City and V TEC
Opel has in Astra
Daewoo gave in Cielo
Mercedes has in all Models
Chevrolet has in Optra ....

and when you tend to drive in bumper to bumper traffic for most of your days , then Automatic is Heaven

Just a piece of advice... i have had 2 Astras...had a horrible experience with both... too much work comes out of it after the 2nd year or so... I would advice u to stay off that model ...Infact i would not recommend Opel by itself to anyone as i have had 2 Corsa too....my dad is a german car freak so he loved opel and went in for it even tho the astras gave problems but from now on no more Opels for us...as even the corsa got way too much work out after a year almost finally got rid of the entire opel stable from my garage and resale was shit too.

hey sahil the same thing happened to my dads best friends astra
we were in the ghats their family in an esteem and ours in our esteem too
we parked out for a while when we went to eat breakfast
a trucker came and banged their esteem off the ghats and bang there it was next day in the junkyard so we all went home in my car
next day he got himself a lovely blue opel astra 1.6
a few months later we got ourelves an cielo afterr sellig off our pug 309
a year down the line their car began giving problems ...
luckily ours didnt ....
their car was in the damn garage more than in their parking lot and when the finally sold it, the got a lower price than their older zen
they replaced it with an ikon on which a woman fell by ,istake and died so they sold tht off too and know own an accent tornado which has had no untoward incidents yet so far
they also own an accord which is a year ols nd has only done 3000 km ....

so know they will never buy an opel again nor this version of an ikon and they lready own an accent and now when they are changing thier alto they will get either GETZ or FUSION

anyway they will never buy an opel but i dont mind one
an opel astra club in twintone grey colour with cool mags, chipped diesel engine with low mileage
should not be that expensive
it hs class - makes u look quite rich , comfort , build quality etc all fo the price of a base santro xing
and in diesel form its quite cheap to run too

We r just giving u a piece of advice buddy no point aruging here ...i rest my case... I guess u r just too stuck up on the whole opel astra aspect of it ...so,so shall it be. * Good luck mate
Peace

I back Sahil. OPel has spoiled its brand name in India, why do you think they are dumping it for Chevrolet?

High maintenance costs and unreliability is the reputation that surrounds this brand. Look at the Corsa, its actually pretty well priced for a premium hatch. Do you see too many people buying it?

Opel is going to be phased out as a brand from India soon. Wait and watch.
