No Indigo, No Scorpio. We want only AMBY

Thats what the Bihar ministers are saying.

Interesting article in today's HT:

The ministers maintain the Ambassador still has the best wheels to navigate Bihar's dreadful roads; it also remains the most abiding symbol of power "To the rural masses, the Ambassador remains the ultimate symbol of power that commands unquestioned deference," said a senior minister, on condition of anonymity "The Ambassador is more attuned to the demands of my constituency where roads are still at the renovation stage," Transport Minister Ajit Kumar said. No doubt some other states have been jettisoning the official use of the Ambassador. Nostalgia for it, however persists. A senior Haryana civil servant noted, "No other car can compare with the Ambassador's elegance, roominess and comfort." Yet the Haryana government has ruled out buying more Ambassadors for its ministers or officials.

Amusing as it may seem....a white Amby with red lights will open a lot more doors. Plus, its got the best back seat by far.

Actually..
I think only the Ambi has that feel what these ministers are asking..

No matter if you travel in a white Merc with a red light...
Its the Ambi that will be known as the ministers car
Now mostly the gov. officials are using white indigos..It feels as if they are using taxis and using red light,,

I dont know But I have a soft corner for Ambis and when ever I see one I just smile..

If you are a little taller (say 6'), headroom on the rear-seat is low and is a serious problem.

Its also the only car to have sheet metal thick enough to do a reasonable job of warding off bullets, machettes and longs.

An Amby cannot be mistaken for anything else than a government car. People in many parts believe that the person in the back-seat of an Ambassador wields power over their lives (true, in many cases). And the powers-that-be enjoy this sentiment amongst the people.
A white Amby with a lal batti will open more doors for the person in the back than any other cars. People are just not used to questioning the authority of an Amby.
Whereas a white Indigo or a black Scorpio could belong to just about anyone.
