That I know. But I was wondering how Mr. Mallya's acquisition will help the average whiskey drinker get a better tipple. Steer has a case, though I would love a discount on the real thing. LOL

The vintage stock that W&M itself held was valued at about 300M USD. So yeah that was a big deal. I just hope the UB group does not get too leveraged.

Based on my limited understanding of things, isn't it impossible to have 'Scotch' made in India?

congrats to mallya for now standing 3 largest hic hic manafacturer .

But, he should let others drink what he produces and not guzzle most of it himself, referring his increasingly large jowls

That is why he needs to blend it with spirits originating in Scotland. It becomes a blended scotch, which is basically what we call Scotch whiskey - a blend of Malt and Grain whiskys.

Except that we have very little grain whisky made in India - most of it sugarcane molasses based and colored to emulate whisky.

The UB group is actually the worlds second largest spirits company.

What is Peter Scot? IMHO, that is the best Indian whiskey I have had. Goes down smooth even when neat. No where near scotch, but very affordable and I like the taste.

Peter scot is not the same as you used to get a few years back. IMO, its corruputed (steep decline in quality) and not fun anymore.

Latest sensation in indian scotch world is black dog and everybody is singing songs about "kala kutta"
