They now have 5 branches. Apart from the initial ones in GandhiNagar and Anna Nagar, they have expanded to 3 in Adyar itself one in the same locality (a more modern one with a restaurant), another in Sastri Nagar. Hope their quality does not take a nose dive. |
They have opened another one in Chetpet in the main road that leads you to Shree Mithai.

Quality has taken a serious serious hit man. I live in the same area as the original Grand Sweets, I have grownup having their bombay khajas and mixtures, but its really really sad to see the quality hit.
I had some snacks from there last week and first time in my life I dint like something I got in Grand Sweets. The crowd that they now get is nothing but old name value, slowly and surely they will loose clientle because of their poor quality. Its really sad to see them loose quality, infact many businesses loose quality when they expand and this brings about their downfall.
BTW, the owner lady has the coolest Audi in Chennai. :thumbs up
Annanagar Kokum(Next to Pazhamudir Nilayam) is giving way to Ente Keralam. Missing it.

Both belong to the same management.. right?
Sure?? I am not aware. But I liked kokum very much, when initially it was started. All dishes piping hot and free starters/papads/tea.
Recently went there, happy to see kerala gals as supervisors, but no water flow in the lower fountain and the walls were losing their shine. And now they have closed.
Will miss the ambience and especially the kerala girls.
Thanks Daewood. Benjarong is a classy hotel. Have been there with my office colleagues and liked all the dishes we ordered. I am surrendering myself for the fried ice creams there.
I am on a lookout for a best buffet lunch hotel..Per head should be less than Rs.500
Prefer non-veg dishes for a people of 6

Anyone know of good outlets where Haleem will be available. I read a newspaper article about this Ramzan special dish, and would like to try it out. The article mentions that some restaurants serve very good Haleem, though it does not give any details like name/location of the restaurants.
If you are going to be in a group, try ordering Haleem through
GATI. They ship this from Hyderabad directly to your doorstep
@Blue_Thunder. Haleem is very much Hyderabad. I really don't think one would get to taste the real Haleem, particularly in a place like Chennai!

Fishermans fare on Greams road egmore? When do they serve Haleem? evenings as in Hybd? worth a try if your friend says its pretty good. ( Can he relate to the Haleem ritual in Hybd?) Do they cook it for 14 odd hours too? Worth a try I guess. :)
