This is what I posted a few pages back in this thread. Also, it’s loosely based on Md Shahabuddin. All the previous seasons of Rangbaaz are very good too.
ZEE5 has some wonderful shows- some like Duranga, Kaafir, Rangbaaz, The Broken News etc are very good. Apart from that, they have the original TVF content as well. Enjoy. |
Thanks. What a coincidence!
Last evening, started Duranga (by fluke) and completed 2 episodes. I understand it's a remake of a Korean series- Flower of Evil !!
What a gripping tale. :Shockked:
This one reminded me of my all time favorite series-
Dexter
Look forward to catching up with other recommendations as well. Btw, what is TVF?
Anantham - Tamil
Pretty well portrayed about the lives of people who stayed in the same house over different time periods. The high rating on IMDb and Prakash Raj being the central character got my eye and it was a good watch.
Prakash Raj totally nails it and some of the other characters supported as well. The younger version of Prakash Raj is worth mentioning as well. Some of the stories felt a bit slow but thoroughly enjoyed it as a series.
Highly recommend it.
Rating - 4.5/5 (Available on Zee5)

It stands for The Viral Fever. It is an online entertainment company behind hit shows like Aspirants, Kota Factory, Panchayat, Gullak, etc.

Do watch 'The Defeated' (Netflix limited series). A brutal take on post-war Berlin divided into four zones by the allies. Frankly all series ought to be limited to six or eight episodes each. Long enough to develop story lines, short enough to move on to the next :)

Can't wait for the next Season of Panchayat.. |
Downloaded Amazon prime after long for this.
Already saw
Panchayat's content used in the meme below.
Although 25 mins episodes like seems commercially motivated like
Jamtara.
Still would recommend it 5/5.
Some recommendations - in the order I watched.
Candy - miniseries on Disney+ Hotstar
A crime drama based on true events. Climax is unsatisfying but then it is based on true events, so they had to stay true to the original story.
The night of - miniseries on Disney+ Hotstar
Again a crime drama/thriller. Pakistani guy in for murder and how it transforms him. Story wanders around a little. In fact it is like 2-3 stories blended into one.
Sharp Objects - miniseries on Disney+ Hotstar
Crime drama/thriller, not an easy watch at times. There is an air of uneasiness throughout the 8 episodes and it all culminates into an explosive ending.

Watched IPCRESS Files in Lionsgate App Channel. It is a 1962 Cold War Spy story. Lot of intrigue, deceit and cat & mouse spy games in the plot. Superb acting, lovely direction and nice dialogues. |
I watched this and loved it - good old fashioned spying, lots of old Mercedes Benz's and Lucy Boynton is just so lovely
Not sure if this has been shared before.

Secret Codes for Netflix Categories

Currently watching "Elementary" Season 2 in Prime. [Sherlock Holmes]
Season 1 was good! Season 2 seems a bit heavy. I'm in the 10th Episode as we speak. Let us see how the rest of the season pans out.

Overall a good series.
You may also like - Enola Holmes on Netflix. It is a movie based on Sherlock's sister.
Homeland - Season 8 - Disney Hotstar
In the pre-OTT era, i distinctly remember buying a paid subscription to Star World Premier just to watch Homeland. What a fantastic show it used to be. A couple of the following seasons were still very good but it got overshadowed by too many shows on OTT. The last season got released in Feb-Apr 2020, and again probably got overshadowed by the pandemic. While browsing for shows to watch, I somehow chanced upon this. And a fantastic find it was.
The scene is back to the AfPak region before the US troops pulled out of Afghanistan; the US and the Taliban are drawing up a ceasefire/peace plan. Some of the dialogues are uncannily prescient and candid about what would happen when the US troops leave (the US troops finally withdrew in Aug 2021). Some of the plot lines are implausible but the action is fantastic, the acting by Claire Danes is expectedly top-notch, pace is excellent, and the series ending is very satisfying.
Rating - 4/5
ps - with the Ukraine-Russia war raging, now might be a good time to bring back Carrie Mathison for Season 9 :).
Currently watching a series on Hotstar called 9-1-1. It is a very interesting series which is about a Fire and rescue crew - amazing characters and also very emotional. Very different from all the other kind of action series and this one is really impactful.
There are 6 seasons and I have watched first 4 seasons and am starting season 5 now.

Full 5/5 from my side for this one!
Just finished The Playlist - A Docu-Drama about Spotify. Good all around perspective about the App and the Industry.
