The moment I've been waiting for :)
For all FAUDA fans. Fauda 4 is coming to Netflix on Jan 20, 2023!
Watching (Ep 4/7 completed) Kakhee- The Bihar Chapter
OTT : Netflix
Rating : 4.5/5
The moment, I see the name Neeraj Pandey, the movie/series has to be automatically seen as there is no other film-maker in Bollywood who can make a gritty film like he does.
His adaption, character selection, dialogues, photography is second to none.
This series is no different and is a tug of war between a criminal who rose from a poverty life to one of the dreaded criminal in Bihar history (based on a true story) and IPS officer.
The story begins with a punch and keeps punching till the end (since I am more than halfway, I don't see this change) and keeps you engrossed and hanging on to your chair.
Some fantastic acting by leads (IPS Officer & Criminal) and also great acting by Abhimanyu Singh ( I loved him in Raktha Charithara) and Ashutosh Rana (He is such a lovely actor and changes his tone, guise and just gets into his character) who plays a despicable and sleazy IPS officer. lol:
Folks who love gritty thrillers shouldn't miss this one.
Caught up with a few movies that I can recommend.
Freddy (Hindi) on Hotstar
A gritty movie which binds you till the end. The leads Kartik Aryan and Alaya F have done fabulous acting. One of the very good movies to come on OTT directly.
India Lockdown (Hindi) on Zee5
A typical Madhur Bhandakar film. If you have watched his Page 3 and Fashion then you will know what to expect. The film narrates the ordeals faced by 4 sets of people during March 2020. If you are missing the lockdown days you can watch this movie ;)
Chup (Hindi) on Zee5
A film by R Balki another director who puts out interesting movies. This one is again gritty and intense. Dulquer Salman is done a good job. Shreya is nice too. Sunny Deol has acted in a movie after a long time. The only thing which I could not digest was too much gore was shown in the movie. Otherwise story and screenplay keeps you hooked.
Love Today (Tamil) on Netflix
This movie had become a surprise super hit on its theatrical run so I watched it on the first day of its OTT debut. It’s a comedy film. Lighthearted and interesting. Apart from Sathyraj Radhika and Yogi Babu all other actors are new but have done a good job. Actor Director Pradeep Ranganathan has hit a jackpot with his comic take on Love in today’s social media times.
Thank You (Telugu) on Amazon Prime
This is not a new movie it released sometime back but I watched it recently after a friend recommended it. Nice feel good movie. The lead characters journey through the film has been depicted in a very interesting manner.
Sinam (Tamil) on Netflix
Arun Vijay is the lead actor. The movie has a thin storyline but the screenplay keeps you guessing so the movie is an interesting watch.
The Brink
Hotstar
Veep meets Looming Tower.
Its just brilliant. Fast paced, and a non-corny/cringey Jack Black make for a binge worthy watch.
10 episodes of 25-30 minutes each.
Rated 5/5
4/5
Do watch!
8 episode, 45 min, crime thriller about the investigation of a dead teen girl. SJ Surya has acted really well along with the supporting cast. The soundtracks are pretty chilling too. Pushkar-Gayatri (Vikram Vedha, Suzhal) serve as the creative producers.
Do also check out the Trivia and BTS for each episode - some are very interesting; how they recced a location, how they shot a particular sequence at an odd time, how make-up artists designed the dead body, how the crew was affected after consuming some local food etc.

I love the pair's work, however the premise is eerily similar to Suzhal no? Hopefully the similarity ends there
In the third season of David E Kelley's Big Sky. Unlike his classics - Picket Fences, Boston Legal and The Practice - there is nothing to chew on in this. Just have entertainment value. It's well shot, fast paced and constantly keeps things interesting. And Montana, what a beautiful place!
One the downside the lead actors are mostly eye candy and acting does not seem to be their strong points. All they have to do is walk around in stylish clothes and act curious all the time. In fact I'd say the villains can act much better than the leads.
Another thing worth mentioning is that this series gives America it's first desi crime family. I had always wondered why the only non-local crime families are either Mexican or Russian and how an Indian crime family would look like. It is in fact Indo-Canadian and the characters occasionally mouth Punjabi phrases. Not a really terror inducing crime family, but good enough for a start.

Montana indeed is the star of the show. Season 1 was alright, but season 2 was kind of a drag and hence stopped watched. Maybe will pick it up again for the holiday season. And yes, nowhere close to David E Kelley's other shows.
Would recommend Trust No one - The hunt for Crypto King on Netflix , crisp documentary regarding the disappearance of Gerry Cottell and the fall of QuadrigaCX and loss of nearly $250 million - rating 4/5 , raised few questions in my head regarding the legitimacy of his death with his death location and death certificate from Rajasthan

I watched it. Thanks for recommending :thumbs up
Though agree with your points, I feel it's slow. Some sequences are unnecessarily stretched, which lead nowhere, inturn frustrating the audiences.
How all the open ends tie in the last episode is something great to watch.
White lotus on Hotstar.
Amazing locations (Hawaii and Sicily), great acting, stunning photography makes a worthy watch. However explicit scenes, language may make watching with family tad uncomfortable.
Bordering on wokeism (especially S1), cynicism and entitlement of the rich, complex relationships, helplessness of the service staff at resorts and satire are all there and more.
Waiting for S3.

S2 is even better than S1. Photography around Sicily is amazing.

I found S1 much better; biggest part being Murray Bartlett (the Manager). The storyline in S2 is very predictable. Worse, the ending is so disappointing.
CAT Netflix
Punjabi series starring the magnificent Randeep Hooda and host of brilliant actors including the superlative Suvinder Vicky who plays Sehtab Singh and Pramod Pathak who plays his subordinate. The story revolves around Randeep Hooda who plays a mole with a motive to finish a drug cartel to save his younger brother. The series is a taut thriller and very well made with twists and turns which keeps the tempo going. Eagerly waiting for the next season which promises to be even better. Recommended watch.

Agree fully, season 1 is way better and it has all to do with Murray Bartlett. Season 2 lacks the intensity and urgency of the previous season and often borders on a sleep fest !!
