Re: Got college placement as a Business Analyst | Should I go for it?

It really depends on what you are interested in. But since you are asking for an opinion, I assume you are not entirely sold on this role. I did my bachelor's in electronics too and was campus placed in early 2000s. At the last moment I decided not to join and took up GRE after I graduated. Did my masters from a mid-tier University in the US since I was late in applying, but I did get scholarship and ended up working in the domain I wanted. Very glad I took that route. Do what drives you. It's okay if it's delayed, you will see results if you put in the effort.

One thing that may work out in favor of this profile is that it is a US based company in energy sector. This means there could be an easy opportunity (internal transfers) to move to US, UK, Oman, Nigeria (Nigeria usually pays fantastic) after say about 5 years. Procurement is an essential function in any organization and usually very close to the CXO/Promoter. Additionally, your items of expertise would be of use to many organizations, thereby allowing you a freedom to move across multiple organizations; and since most suppliers in Oil & Gas field are MNCs, it also makes your skills and expertise transferable to any geography across the globe.

Now the other side, you mention you are interested in EEE and want to work in that field. What kind of work are you anticipating as your dream job?

@fueledbyfury - What did you end up with now? Curious on the decision and the process behind the same. It'll help a lot of such folks who may in a similar dilemma and who are graduating now.
