Wanted:4X4 Gypsy/Safari

just came to know that the Gypsy had the Estemm 1.3 L engine from 1997 : so I am looking for a Gypsy post -1997 (MG413W model ).

There is a petrol-Safari available in Chennai, but it happens to be a 2WD vehicle. I am looking for a 4X4, even it is petrol. Looks like there are no Gypsies available.

Both the vehicles you are on the lookout are hard to find..whats the application you are lookin for.. Offroad..??

Then..the Gypsies and the Mahindras are good enough..to take almost any terrain..

Mostly family weekend driving : sometimes, offroading/beachsand driving. That is why I prefer the Safari to the Gypsy : for the comfortable ride. I have driven the Gypsy, and absolutely love the rock-solid feel it has (steering control, I mean), but it is not comfortable for taking the family out for long drives.

That's a good price for a full loaded petrol safari.
Beware of FE ... It's hardly 5-6kmpl ... Convwerting it to LPG may sound a good idea ... FE will further decrease when u r on LPG

Recently i heard a friend say that a new Safari engine can be mounted for 1L, so buying a gud petrol safari for 3.35L and spending another 1L for the diesel engine...errr does it make any sense

Thanks for the tips ! I am aware of the low fuel efficiency of the Petrol Safari : I definitely will be converting to AutoGas if I buy one. The vehicle is in very good condition, and it is also the EX version. Also, buying it and putting a new diesel engine may not be that good an idea, I think, since we will need to make changes in the axle ratio also.

converting a petrol safari to Gas..eh? If your running is less than 1000 kms a month..does not make much sense..you'll be better off retaining the orig spec petrol engine..pretty torquey 3.0 litre engine..

Have you made the purchase..

Why not look at a used bolero 2004+ models..its pretty decent for family drives as well as a good offroader..

The petrol Safari is a 2.1 engine, awesome power at 135 HP and good torque too. I havent purchased it yet. Mahindra's cant match the ride comfort of a Safari.

no BT..when it comes to offroad ability..the mahindras rock over Tatas..but on road..especially highway travel..then the safari makes a good choice..

BTW..are you coming for todays meet..?? 800 at Annanagar west bus depot..the trip to pulicat..
