Thanks to this thread, i applied online sometimes in Feb and my application was approved in 2 weeks time. The gentlemen at biometric counter did ask for the approval email and tracking number, so please keep it handy.

The FTT biometric counter is near the business class immigration (right most corner). There are 4 automated counters (White frame) i could see at the Mumbai airport for fast track immigration, which were expectedly deserted.
I have approval email from Feb and have an opportunity to travel in May to do biometris. Hope approval is valid for 3 months.

Is the FTT biometrics counter is before you clear manual immigration and upon successful biometrics enrollment, can we immediately use the automatic gates for that trip itself?

Why not make an appointment at your local FRRO and finish off the biometrics? Also, to clarify your approval question: no it is not immediate approval. In my case at Chennai Immigration, it took 2/3 days for the approval SMS and email to come through. I enrolled while flying out to Malaysia, and used Fast Track seamlessly while entering India after a few days.

Fast Track gates and biometric enrolment desks are located in line with the normal staffed Immigration desks. Look for the signs or ask any Immigration staffer.

I am a bit confused. I applied in last week of Jan and received Email application approval by Mid Feb. However my travel itself is finished by that time.

I selected Airport for Biometrics and Chennai as preferred. Can I visit FRRO and do biometrics now? Do I need to take appointment or can just walk in?

And after biometrics, will there be another approval that I shall use the automated gates? Will it take few days?

Unsure about the FRRO appointment. I guess best to speak to their Helpdesk.

Again, in my case I just checked my emails, and yes it did take 2 days for the final approval to come through. I received the following email:

Dear XXXX

Welcome on board! We are glad to have you enrolled in Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Travelers Program against your application no. XXXX Passport Number XXXX.

Now you are eligible for using the e-Gates for faster immigration clearance during your next visit to our Immigration Posts till 08/Jun/2027.

If you need any assistance, please feel free to write to us at india.ftittp-boi@mha.gov.in.
