So you screw up somebody for life, and all you get is 1 month?
Ideally the channel should pay the teachers monthly salary + 20% increment every year + 40-50Lakh for mental agony cause.

The channel says -
"that the reporter had misled the channel regarding the sting operation."

What BS !!! What are mgmt and editors paid for?

The punishment is ridiculously light. There should be stricter laws on this and its top mgmt should be held personally responsible for scams like this.

Giving everyone a one-month holiday is not enough - Criminal charges should be filed against the mgmt.

+ Punitive damages.

I've not heard of companies paying realistic punitive damages in India, but adding a huge Punitive damage (say 5 crore or 20% of their revenue) is the only way to ensure that someone else does not do this in future. Else a TV channel can easily afford to pay up a couple of lakhs. I'm sure they made more revenue than that, the day they "broke the story".

They haven't even apologised forget anything else!

On the flipside, the politicians must be the most delighted by this. Now everytime there is a sting operation against them, they will raise the issue of this fake one raising questions on it's genuineness.

I was just curious, whats the educational qualifications of these so called Journalists of channels like Aaj Takk, India TV, live india etc.
Because the manner in which they present themselves and behave, dont even look like completed high school.
