Although Indians becoming on global rich list won't make poverty disappear overnight, but it will change the perception of outside world that Indians too have some money to spare and can afford expensive goods.

The change of perception is a powerful thing and it will indirectly benefit all Indians.

Mukesh Ambani not world's richest man, says Reliance-India Business-Business-The Times of India
RIL says otherwise, looks like it was a rumour which got blown up by media as always.

There is nothing to be Proud of having an Indian like Mukesh at the top of the list of riches considering the contribution of billions to the microsoft foundation from Bill Gates to (AIDS,Vaccines, emergencies, education, disaster, disp laced, poor nations etc)
Can any one give me any specific aid done by Reliance to thier own country's fellowmen uplift if at all to other poor nations as microsoft foundation does.

I agree with you, but Ambani has no obligation to give to the needy right? Sure if I had 63billion I would, but he doesn't HAVE to.

And RIL has created employment for 1000s of people directly and indirectly, and the people who got his shares are prosperous. As long as the company pays it taxes and gives employment to more people that's good enough. That's spreading prosperity and that's what we need. We don't need charity, the country will stand on its own legs!

Absolutely right IMO. Whether he has contributed to charity or not is an entirely different issue. He has generated wealth, jobs and shareholder wealth too.

Reviving an Old Thread.

I have often heard Laxmi Mittal as rich Indian, My question is what makes him a Rich Indian? I mean from what I know he is not an Indian Citizen, most of his wealth is generated out of India if not all, does only being of Indian origin makes him a Rich Indian?

Please correct me if any of my information about him is wrong

Richest Man in the world and his ride

The richest man in the world according to Forbes - the legendary investor Warren Buffett. And more importantly his ride a 2001 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series with a license plate that reads 'Thrifty'.
