Unbelievable painting about JRD

Mods .
i have searched but could not find any thread on this.
i got this one in mail. thought of sharing with all of you
if similar thread exists kindly delete or merge this one

Location: Tata Museum, Jamshedpur.
In the first pic, you can see a painting. This was a gift to JRD Tata on his Birthday by a street artist. Nobody was able to understand his art. Unfortunately, only the painting was given to JRD and the artist had promised to reveal the secret shortly . However, JRD was no more when the secret was actually revealed.

Here's the secret revealed. When you place a steel rod at the circle in the first pic you saw, you will see the image of the JRD Tata as a reflection on the steel rod as seen in the second pic below. Isn't it incredible!!

Makes Me Wonder…

Can't this be done as a trace?

Take a glass cylinder of the same size as the steel pipe. Paint the image you like. Place the cylinder on a sheet of A2 paper, and then light the cylinder from inside using a tubelight, it will project the image on to the paper. Paint away along the projected image.

I am just guessing, not sure it is possible.

If we light in the cylinder the light will not fall on the sheet. We need a well focused light for this job.

I think the artist kept the pipe in front of him and then make the picture by seeing it on the pipe.

Ah yes... this painting I remeber well. It is located in the Center For Excellence Archives (erstwhile Russi Modi Center for Excellence). IIRC, this paitning was gifted to JRD in the mid 90's - Tata Steel used to have a painting exhibition every year where they would invite top artists from through out the country for a week - 10 days and they would create portraits and scupltures based on the Steel and You Motif. If you have a chance to be in Jamshedpur, a visit is highly recommended - you see some great art at the archives. The sculptures are outstanding as all have bene created from Steel Scrap that Tata's provided.
