Is Google down?

I seem to be able to access every other site now except Google (including Gmail). Does anyone else have the same problem or is my ISP playing up?

Its up and running. Well with the number of mirrored sites and backup sites that they have across the globe it would be very tough for google to go down, unless someone launches a sustained DDOS attack. I'm sure Google would be ready for such eventualities too. :-)

Maybe something to do with ISP then.

Doubt its an issue of google going down.... its probably some sort of DNS issue w.r.t your ISP.

BSNL had this

Its your ISP playing up. I had this problem and later found that BSNL had messed up the DNS servers. Check broadbandforum.in for any updates there.

@spadival - which ISP ?
I was facing a similar problem today. All other sites opened really quick but gmail/google/orkut were not opening up at all.
Am on YOU-Telecom.

Just run a command from the dos prompt as - tracert google.com . You will know where the issue is. My guess is that you might be timing out on your ISP's or some other DNS server.

if you still have a problem, try accessing it by IP. I just pinged and it's 72.14.207.99

better, store it as a favourite, and try it when u think it's not working.

if you can access it with IP, your DNS server is toying with you.

EDIT: and here is a list of public DNS servers. you can switch to these if BSNL keeps messing up.
Public Name server IP address:
a) 4.2.2.1
b) 4.2.2.2
c) 4.2.2.3
d) 4.2.2.4
e) 4.2.2.5
f) 4.2.2.6
