The attention you need in driving / riding, the fun of driving, the intake growl, the exhaust note, watching other vehicles and the way others drive, the scenic beauty of some roads, the mad rush in cities, etc, infact everything on road keeps me awake. I have never felt my alert level going down so far, don't know whats will happen as my age gets its increments .

Some good music, a chai/water/ciggie stop also helps.

The headlights from our friendly truckers & buses make sure i stay awake all night.

I don't have the misfortune to go to boring meetings, but i do have a suggestion, just look down at some literature, shake your head slowly & get yourself a nice little nap of 2-3 mins, will make you reasonably fresh.

Im used to driving with loud crisp exhaust note , firm suspension and sound of road noise , u can hear the tone change with rpm..
when I move to rental car its like somebody just turned off the outside world..

hmmm.. point noted. must agree hat I had not thought from that angle . I am lucky that I havent driven such a car yet.

when I was in india I used to take the old bombay pune highway instead of the freeway coz its more fun for the same reasons..

in office, go to the loo and take a quick nap there. Someone's guaranteed to wake u up inadvertently in 15-20 mins

Hmm, let me think..

a) Lack of food - I avoid eating two hours before a long journey (of say over 5/6 hours) and generally go on a fast during the course of a long drive.

b) Tea, though only in small quantity.

c) My wife.

While on highways - Having tea from the road side vendor at regular intervals(4hrs once) and a good melodious music

Having tea make u refresh
