auto drivers into action

This ‘defective’ meter hits auto drivers hard

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Around 100 auto drivers protested in front of a petrol bunk close to Koshy’s restaurant on St Mark’s Road on Thursday evening alleging that the bunk’s LPG meter was flawed and gas being pumped into their tanks was less than what the meter indicated.
Some drivers, who came to the TOI office, said that one driver brought two tanks. He got one tank filled up at the St Mark’s Road bunk and another at Nagpal petrol bunk. “On comparing them, we found that one tank had 350 gms less. The tank filled up at Nagpal’s was normal,” the drivers claimed.
They said they’d lodged a complaint with the Cubbon Park police station. “We asked the inspector to see for himself whether the LPG meter was working properly at the bunk. On checking it, he was convinced that we were right,” a driver said.
The Cubbon Park police said the matter can be settled only by the legal metrology department. “We have informed its officials and IOC representatives to be present at the bunk by Saturday morning. The officials have given their consent and will check the drivers’ allegations.” The drivers decided to stay overnight at the bunk. They said they would not allow the bunk officials to touch the meter till officials came and examined it

There is a simple way to check it out. Whenever we fill fuel, carry a one litre water bottle - ask them to fill exactly 1 litre on the bottle, it will be clearly visible whether they are filling the right quantity.
