Decompose plastics in 3 months...

As part of a high school science fair project, a 16-year-old from Ontario figured out how to break down the polymers in plastic bags —compounds that can last for over 1,000 years—in about three months.

I have no idea about plastics and what the boy did *sounds* too good to be true, and I sincerly hope it is. I also think that he got a $30K award, so it must have struck a chord with the judges somehow.

Ishan, do you feel that there is some major problem in the boy's methodology? Or is it something that shouldnt be made public? Am just curious, not trying to defend anyone.
