My 3L Safari DICOR , which i eventually sold.

Looking out for a nice 2.2 Dicor in used market, a good one is hard to get.

Doesn't the GX variant come with SRS Airbags??

No GX does not come with Airbags, GX is with ABS and if you want Airbags you need to go for the VX variant.

1 Year, 12500kms Update

Got the 2nd Free Service done today, at Auto MATRIX. Not much problems/issues were reported by me, apart from a whistling noise that comes from the front right whell when driven over uneven surfaces. Plus, suggested the Service Advisor to find and fix any additional issues he finds whilst driving.
The invoice total was Rs.3,184/-, which comprised of:
Part No. / Particulars / Qty / Amount (Rs., excl. VAT)
-------- ---------- ---- -----------------------
OILCASGTXD / Diesel engine Oil CH4 Castrol GTX Diesel / 6.9 litres / Rs.1,662.14.
BRSD14 / Bardahl Special Duty / 0.6 litres / Rs.800.00
254718130115 / Assembly Oil Filter / Rs.161.78
254701139201 / Seal Washer OS Drain Plug / 1 / Rs.10.67
FST004 / Pin / 1 / Rs.3.55
In addition, balance weights of 30gms, 35gms (1 each), and 20gms and 90gms (2 each) were used for wheel alignment. Total cost Rs.84.37.
Labour involved for the above jobs as also wheel alignment and wheel balancing, tyre rotation, idler arm adjustment, washing were not charged.

History: The car turned an year old on the 19th of this month. Insurance was renewed with New India Assurance, for an amount of Rs.15,883/- (moved on from Reliance auto insurance).

Warranty replacement(s) till date: 1. The engine temperature sensor decided to go bust sometime last month, after being idled in hometown, that too fresh out of the dealership with a much required wash and vacuum cleaning. The engine temperature was at the extreme 'H' mark with a red LED glowing as well, when the car was restarted and driven barely 2kms after a 2 week slumber. It was beyond closure time and a Saturday evening at the dealership and am thankful that the concerned guys did all they could to get a replacement quickly, as i was to leave for B'lore on the next morning. Got to see the PC-based diagnostic software for the first time then. They used it to confirm engine was ok (reading was about 87 deg.C if i remember correctly). No idea of the Part No. etc, as it was to be done on the Monday. Didn't follow up on it as the car got what it wanted, hehe.

Another incident involved a flat tyre which possibly occurred due to a mis-aligned valve pin while refilling. No nails/pins were detected, forcing the tyre repair guy to remove the tyre from the rim for confirmation, to check from the insides. Nothing found. again, a first sighting of a tubeless tyre, hehe.

Fuel consumption: Least was 9.1km/l, and highest being 15.2km/l. Curiously, Indian Oil regular fuel seems to be charming to the heart (engine) than Shell. Am always in a dilemma while refilling now, as these pumps are located next to each other at the locality i live.

Now for the picture part. Sorry for posting more writeup than images, as do not want to create a separate thread on the vehicle. The usage/dependance on it has come down for the last 4 months, as am taking the public transport to work and back. Missed doing the 15000km reading on the odo. Funnily, there has been a swap in the roles ever since (taking a Volvo to work and back, and car to native, which was vice versa until now).

You don't know how badly I want to take some pics like that, but I'm stuck with a lot of work at present and so its either this or pics of her on a crowded city street and I figured these are better.

But honestly cant wait to reclaim my life and come mid of next month should be able to do that and then maybe you would not have a chance to complain

Nice pix and garage!

The seat pic is good; shows how spacious and comfy it is.

Some pix from my Idukki trip;

jkdas, very nice pics

Those natural surroundings just complement the Safari, nothing to beat the Safari Dicor.

I have somehow started to like the side mirrors of GX. those turn signal idicators are to die for and look so upmarket on the Safari, just adding a bit more value to the Dicor.

One bad thing, Umang if you can remove those stickers and monogram from the fender and place it at the rear where the old Dicors had it can look a bit better than present.

Haha, to clarify, the vehicle is being used mainly for out-of-town trips, and bus has become my choice for everyday commute. Sorry all, for the OT.

I guess you need to go through the travelogue section, where he has posted more than what was expected of Manali / Rohtang.

You can see it in this thread - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...es-snow-7.html

OEM leather seat cover appendage

OEM leather seat covers of Safari (including mine VX) at the rear has some sort of dangling piece at the bottom. Refer the shot below that I have highlighted.

Can some one tell me what is this and how it is supposed to be folded? The uncovered velcro seems to be catching any frills on the cloth especially my 4year old's frock.

thanks,

-BJ
