A late entrant to this thread, my Safari has done ~ 160,000 kms in past 5 years :-)

I know rb2399 personally and I must say "Live to drive" is not just a sticker on rb2399's Safari, he lives to drive in true sense.

Wow! That's a lot of kilometers you put on it @rb2399. Mine is also 5 years old and is at 115K and I thought I put a lot on it!

On a related note, did you face any major maintenance after the 100K mark? I am feeling a little apprehensive these days whether any expenses are going to turn up...

Aren't all safari owners (atleast here ) Live to drive . I've done 21 k on mine in 10 months and have already travelled from Khardungla pass to MP ( Half the country )

Nothing major apart from the mandatory timing belt replacement @ 105,000 kms.I wanted to change all rubber hoses but as usual TASC feigned ignorance about it :-(.

posting pic of my Safari TCIC 1998.I stay out of India most of the time. she has clocked 124000 kms..she is in pristine condition.

Nothing major so far.except suspension which has been attended twice in 15 years. I love it and this has been with me since College days. ..lots of sweet memórias and happy trips.

few more from a different angle.She is 1998 4x4 Ex and still quite capable of giving others run for their money.Have got her serviced regularly, its been a long time and we are still not finished

Safari experts : While on 2nd & 3rd gear notice thick black smoke. Is it normal ? The engine power & oil consumption seems to be normal & Oil pressure guage shows half mark. The vehicle has done about 55K till now.

Enjoying the drives. FE at 11 from Cochin to Mysore ( first time safari drive), Now from B'lore to Mysore 12.

here are the updates :
1. Got the Spare wheel cover (though it is 3.0 L cover)
2. Decarbonizing done - 2K at TASS - MIlage increased ( soft pedal 13Kms (non ghat region)/Mysore-mangalore trip ghat 11.5kms)
3. Got the ICE changed to Pioneer DEH-X6590BT /Focal components - cost rs 16k , excellent sound quality
4. Got the wheels painted - DIY (costed rs 400, 1 can of silver & laquer)
