Safe custody of gas connection

Hello,

Has anyone ever kept gas connection under safe custody? Is it possible to keep under safe custody only for max 1 year? When I read through the rules at FrmProcedures, this is what I understand. Can anyone please clarify?

Also I have seen people offering to sell their gas connection. Is this legal?

You cannot sell you connection, its either surrender or safe custody. Rest is illegal.

Well it's actually simply custody. With its classic definition.
You temporarily surrender your connection, the company cancels your billing for a short while, making sure neither you, nor anyone else can use your gas (or whatever) and restores it to you back to regular status when you return.

You do not even pay minimum rental during the custody period.

"Safe Custody" is new official Indian English, making something sound more complex than it is.

Why do you need to surrender?

+++++++++++++++ Original Post deleted +++++++++++++++++++++++

I thought you were talking about Automotive Gas - wondered why someone would want to 'surrender' it.

Come to think of it, why would you want to 'surrender' your domestic connection either?

Steer, I think he's travelling abroad and wants to keep his gas connection in "Safe Custody", so that he can use it when he's back.

Re: Safe custody of gas connection

I moved into a gated community with piped gas. What should I do to my HP Gas connection.

I may stay in this apartment for at least 5 years.

One must refill once in six months for the connection to stay active. The best solution would be to transfer it to the address of a family member/friend so that they can keep on using and refilling it.

Friends, I need to transfer my HP gas connection to another city. Understand that i need to surrender the present regulator and gas cylinder for refund. I purchased a new cylinder last week and it is not used and full. Will i get refund of the unused gas cylinder also?

yes you will get your money back. The dealer will take it back - but they usually wont give you a receipt as the cylinder you surrendered would go to the black market.

Hi Nirmal were you able to get an answer for the above? Not able to find an answer for the duration in which we can keep the connection in safe custody. Would help if you can share your experience.

1 year is the period when you have transferred your gas connection to a different city and not started using the connection. Your connection is basically in a transferred dormant state and then gets auto cancelled.

For safe custody, simply call your dealer and check.
