One correction in the above.
For Intangible printing, the arrow points in the wrong direction and the description is also not correct.
Actually, the denomination(500 in this case) is in green color and when held at an angle against light, it appears as blue.
For Re100 note, initially its half green and half blue but at an angle against light, the whole digits are blue.

Regards,

Following is the notification issued by RBI regarding fake currency notes doing the rounds.

As per the notification, for Rs1000/- notes avoid accepting 2AQ and 6AC series notes as most probably they would be fake.

Kindly inform this to your family and friends.

Recently i am hearing that some people are getting fake notes when they withdraw money from ATM.

What should we do in such a case?

I have come across two of these fake 500 notes in the past.

It was fairly easy to notice that there was something different about the notes. First things that caught my eye :
- The "500" in the center looked too shiny and glittery
- The quality of the note felt more paper-y and less like typical currency.
- The (raised) "dot" for the visually impaired was missing!

Keep an eye out.

In these days of recession, if your company offers to pay in cash.

I don't suppose you get an authentic note in return. The counterfeit is destroyed in front of you or you are given an option to inform the cops and trace the origin of the note.

Sane people ask the banker to tear the note and .

Today a 500/- note I withdrew from a SBH (State Bank of Hyd.) ATM has the serial no. starting from 7AC- a student of mine, last week, gave me a handwritten-list of fake 1k and 500 notes, and 7AC is listed as fake 500 in that!

But is it true? Anyone who could verify this?

IF it IS a fake one, what do I do? I read in an online article that a guy in Srinagar got 2k worth of fake notes from a local bank (name not mentioned) ATM, and when he went to the concerned bank branch, they flatly refused to return it, and in turn, suspected him of getting the note from somewhere!
