Looks like the Haleem season has started early this year for us Hydeez. Just read in TOI that the season has started early because of the upcoming Shravan month where many do not consume meat. Where else on the earth can you find a muslim festival dish being served in advance because of an upcoming Hindu calendar month. Happens only in India.

During Ramazan season the haleem stores open as early as 4PM and the people who eat between 4PM to 7PM when muslims break their fast are all non-muslims.

Cafe Bahaar, Sarvi and few others have already started serving haleem, much before the holy month commences. The craze for haleem is unbelievable.

BTW, is the Begumpet outlet of Cafe Bahaar open already? Any reviews of that?

Not yet, from the outside it looks far from complete. It is still wrapped in the blue colored cloth.

Hope it's 100% Mutton. I am dead sure that it either has to be chicken Harees or Beef Mixed one.

Poha? Are you referring to Flattened Rice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flattened_rice? I guess Red Poha/Flattened Rice has loads of fiber content and is considered healthy. I am still to see the Red Poha, looks like worth giving it a try.

This has been on for the past 2-3 years, they start serving Haleem early to cash in on the craze. The real flavor of Haleem is during the season itself.

As everyone knows, majority of the patrons are non-muslims at these Haleem outlets. Moreover, there are many people who take Haleem Take-aways to be consumed at home. If someone really wants to enjoy Haleem, it has to be in Old City only. No other place justifies the fun of having a Haleem as Old City does. Time to up those ante's and plan for the 2012 Haleem Meet.

They are planning to sell only Haleem at the Begumpet Outlet during the onset of 2012 Haleem Season. This is the updated news from Rashid.

Not yet decided Ani. Waiting for the Haleem Season to start and then we will chalk out plans for the Haleem Meet.

Yeah, as I mentioned. Harees is always chicken based, where as Haleem is either Mutton or Beef based.

The reason I wrote it is because it was priced at 50/- per serving.

You mentioned Harees in the opening statement and Haleem in the closing. So, was confused as to if you had Haleem or Harees. The place you mentioned is known to serve Chicken Harees, which I would dare not have. Does not appeal to my palette.

Sorry if I missed out in any of the earlier posts. Where exactly is this proposed outlet? Is it near the pantaloon outlet where some hectic construction activity is going on? From the interiors of this place, it looks like an eating joint only.

I also got confused reading "Haleem". The guy is famous for his "Harees" and the biggest fan are the kids of Norules.

I have never tasted Harees and still do not have the guts to even try it out.
That is possible as all they need is a table and 2 people (one to collect the cash and the other to handover the Haleem).

However, the building is far from ready and they may not be able start the outlet in near future. The original schedule was to start it on Christmas Day in 2011.
I am starting the Haleem eating from today evening, of course, alone and from Sarvi. Hope to see you all join in soon.

I tend to disagree on this a bit Bajaj Saab. Outlets like Bahar, Sarvi and etc demand more number of people to work. As this is not the off-the-counter Pista House Counter. They would be transferring the Haleem from their Basheerbagh outlet to Begumpet outlet and would be served off the kiln exactly how they serve at Basheer Bagh or any other outlet serves it.

About Harees and only about harees. :)

You may not love it. But I doubt if you will hate it.

Sarvi Haleem, 90/- per plate, perfectly spiced, some dry fruit, a few peppercorns, 5 pieces of 1cm sized bones.

Nice, very nice, just that it was not scalding piping hot the way I like my haleem (maybe I should have eaten it there itself).

I tasted Harees for the first time last year at the same outlet near the Mosque on Rd. No. 2.

I absolutely HATED IT and will never eat it again.

The concept of chicken based haleem itself does not go too well with me.

Lets hope so, will try them out at Begumpet as well as Hyderguda at least once this season, hopefully, as a TBHP Haleem Outing.
Well, I am seriously thinking of trying out Harees but only at the Road No. 3 opposite Mosque outlet due to the fame and reputation. Lets see what happens!

Where is good quality 'bade' ka haleem sold? Someone I know was asking about it.
