Any reviews about Bakeries dishing out good cakes near(or delivering to) hitec city area.
Apart from b'day cakes, I am also looking for good tea cakes, cup cakes. Any reviews about country oven, Le cafe(Novotel).
Is Ofen still in business? I remember I couldn't spot it the last time I traveled on that road.
Bakers Inn and Cakes and Crisps(Kondapur) are not an option. Have tried Labonel, it was a bit too sweet for my taste.

Ofen is still very much in business and is still good as ever. THE OFEN - Delectably European {{ Bakerie, Patisserie & All Day Cafe }} Hyderabad

Yesterday evening was time for a quick Haleem meet. Prior to that I could not resist and stopped over at Hyline for one plate before reaching the meet venue which was @555, Mehdipatnam.

After gorging down 2 plates here I was totally full and decided to skip the rest of the other venues.

Folks who joined were :-

Myself+1, Raveeendra, Traveloholic and Fordmanchau

Hyline haleem was fabulous. It was smooth, meaty and extremely decilous. But, had lots of bones and was extremely low in quantity making it expensive. Thats why probably there was almost no crowd there at 9pm.

555 haleem was good but, lots of ghee and kaju kind of masked the real taste. Besides, i found the wheat content little high in this haleem.

Wont be going back to either. Next to try would be Sarvi, Shahghouse, Shadaad, Bahar, Paradise, Kabashish, Garden etc....

Hyline Haleem. Look at the smoothness of the haleem

This should be none other than Mr. Nikhil Desai.

Angeethi has closed down at the old location and moved to City Center now on the same floor as the Indijoe etc.

Lunch Buffet (Mon-Sat)is priced at INR 259 plus SC plus ST plus VAT.

We landed up there for lunch and the place is so damn crowded. No ambience nothing, just one big dining hall types, with some cheap posters adorning the wall.Go there if you dont have an option.Lunch is only buffet while dinner is only ala-carte.The Ala-carte rates are mind boggling,I would reccomend only the buffet for its VFM.

While coming back home stopped over at Sarvi at Rd#1 and picked up 2 plates as parcel. The price this year is R.90 and the quantity is considerably less. Almost no friend onions as well. Overall the taste was ok but leaves a lot desired.

Cheers

This year the fried onions come in the "special" one and priced at INR 120 as per a friend who has been on a haleem binge spree

If you all see mobike's post above. Fried onion and cashews are very much there in the 555's haleem priced at 90/- a plate, decent quantity and good taste.
While I don't see anything at all in hyline's haleem, other than the pudina leaves probably, but definitely the texture of hyline's haleem is smoother than the 555's.
555's haleem is a good bet.

In keeping with my very strict diet schedule, my Boss (aka the wife) has given me permission to eat one Haleem this time around...So need all your expert opinion. Where should I go ?

I do have a preference for the Bawarchi kinda special Haleem with a boiled egg on top.

Go to 555 and order for Special Haleem. Would be served with Boiled Egg and Chicken 65 as toppings.

Opposite the Masab Tank Paradise on rd no :1 Banjara Hills, there's Maheswari Complex.Has Spice 6 restaurant in the front. Get inside the lane on the side with bright lights and lots of crowd. There it is as soon as you get inside the lane.

Here check the link : http://goo.gl/maps/wsUY

Meanwhile, in the evening, I got two plates of Chicken Haleem parceled at 60/- per plate from Royal Haleem at Rd no:3 Banjara hills adjacent to the Masjid.
Got home had it with hot roti's. Probably because it was a parcel and I ate straight from the container, it felt bland when compared to the Haleem we had yesterday. Would have liked it to be a little more spicy.
Otherwise, the texture was good and bones were less and very small.

It's diagonally opposite to Paradise at Masab Tank.

If you thought that was good quantity of fried onions, check this out. Haleem at Bahar was better than 555 and they were liberal in sprinkling the onions.

Closer to midnight, we decided to step out for some ice cream and went to Havemore in Ohri's at Basheerbagh and totally indulged there in below

Btw, they have an Iftar special for Rs.200 with haleem included apart from dates, fruits, dessert etc. I didnt enquire if it was veg haleem as havemore is a veggie restuarant.

Lovely Haleem at Bahar
