Urgently Required - O Negative Blood in Chennai

Dear All

one of my brother in law is undergoing a bypass surgery at Chennai on Wednesday and he needs five units of O negative Blood for the same.

i request all the chennai members if they are O negative and can help in sourcing those five units as O negative blood is very rare and hard to get.

the details of the patient and other information is given herewith.

Mr Harish dutia

blood donation between 9 am to 3 pm only

2. Does not the IMA provide required blood group on replacement basis - the replacement being of any type?

not with O negative type, that being a rare group, they want only O negative as replacement.

latest update --- they have managed to procure two units, still minimum of one unit of o negative is needed, if they have three units of o negative, they will do with replacement of another group.

i am already registered with this website and i have done the needful there too. the only problem being diwali holidays not much people who can help.

Just saw this thread. My group is O-ve and I donate blood regularly. So no issues with donating.

Only problem is the donation timing stipulated by the hospital, which kind of makes it difficult for me, given my work timings and the fact that Ambattur and Thoraipakkam (where I work) are located at 2 ends of the city.

BTW, at what time is the operation scheduled tomorrow ? Will they be OK with my donating blood tomorrow morning ? Let me see if I can do something - no promise though.

thanks a lot SB, right now they have mamaged to get three units and the surgery is in process now. hopefully they might not need more right now and other two units can be replacement by any other blood group.

i think i did check the thread but somehow missed him. anyways as mentioned above, things seem to have got solved for now atleast. the surgery is going to be of 5 hours so only later will we come to know.
