from my son's rhymes -

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Thanks. And yes, you are right about nothing having changed. And from the looks of it, it ain't gonna change for quite some time too, I guess.

Thanks. For now, there is this one below, which is my favourite, but can't claim credit for this creation, since I only adapted an existing poem to write this - just changed the theme of the existing one.

Whoever wrote the original, has done some great work - so simple and concise, yet carries such a lot of meaning.
Any guesses as to the original poem, on which my following adaptation is based ?

THE TRICOLOUR IN MY POCKET

I carry a flag in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am an Indian
No matter where I may be

This little flag is not magic
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn't meant to protect me
From every physical harm

It's not for identification
For all the world to see
It's simply an understanding
Between my country and me

When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or key
The flag is there to remind me
Of what the country did for me

It reminds me, too, to be thankful
For my rights day by day
And to serve my country better
In all that I do and say

It's also a daily reminder
Of the pride and joy I share
With all those who love my country
And are ready to die for its sake

So, I carry a flag in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That India is my country
And that's the way it'll always be

Okay you were referring to Holey Doors. Still, you can only peep through the hole in the door - not the door itself.

I guess you can claim poetic license on this thread.

This thread is so damn nice and hilarious.

Here's one from me.

One find Monday morning in the middle of the NIGHT.

Two Dead Boys sleeping, woke up to FIGHT!

Back to back like cow boys they faced each OTHER.

Took out their swords and shot dead each OTHER!

A true story

I hope its your shirt pocket you are talking about! Putting it in your trouser's pocket would, constitutionally, indicate disrespect to the flag, as it will be below your waist. Dont flame me, i didnt make this rule.

Rules, Rules.

Yes you are right in what you are saying.

My 2.6 yr old kid loves the tricolour so much that its become a part of her daily playing toys,

BTW her daily toys are 5 miniature Beetles, Winnie the Poo and one more doll named Chintoo and the TRI-COLOUR, cant separate the team.

Hmm, I didn't think that far. The original poem and my adaptation were about the shirt pocket - being close to the heart. But in reality, I keep the tricolour in my wallet, which in turn I keep in my trouser pocket. Gotta move it above the waist.

Love It!

Love it when you talk to me,
love it when you smile,
love the feeling of we being we,
It even makes me rhyme.

Love it when we have a brawl,
love it when we choose to ignore,
love it when it all ends in a day,
Like what we fought for was so gay.

Love it when you call yourself retarded,
love it when u back it up with facts,
love it when you show your true self,
Like ‘accept me’ or ‘go die’.

Love it when you drive the drives,
Love it when you bring the smiles,
Love it when you stand behind,
In happy, gloom and all the time!

Love it we think about the yesterdays,
Love it when we wonder ‘when' and ‘how’ ?!
Love it when I think it was meant to be,
Like always and anyhow!
