Quoting myself.
Watched the movie last night and it turned out to be quite good.
Nice surprise for a horror movie buff :)
Kantara - rating 3.5/5 Malayalam dubbed version with Malayalam subtitles. Some important dialogues/chanting they kept original with subtitles. Occupancy was ~ 60% (big screen).
"Woooaahaa" shoutings in between is very loud but that is how the original performance is. Climax scene from Shiva getting possessed till end excellent.
High expectation killed it for me. Over the top loud action scenes, some unnecessary scenes, and double meaning dialogues are few negatives.
Whoever planning to watch it, watch it in theater please.
I watched it with my wife and 9 year old son - their rating 3/5.
Love Today (2022) - Tamil - In Cinemas
3.5/5 - First half is wonderful, there's lag in the second half.
This one is for the 90's kids out there, it's a laugh riot. Watched the movie in the theatre on a weekday night show which was fully booked. Pradeep, the director has aced his acting skills. Ivana, the female actress has done a wonderful job as well.
Yogi Babu's role hits different, he has never done such a role in any of his movies.

Was planning to catch this up today.
Sardar
Pretty decent movie. Among the watchable ones from Karthi. As is with movies of this kind, you should forget physics for those 2.5 hours.
As movie it works better than Vikram without the star power, save for the soundtrack which is forgettable

What is so bad to not to see as a couple?
The Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri show I saw, was heavily patronized by the fairer gender.
We ourselves have seen Incendies and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo together.

I assume it's something to do with the main storyline which may have something to do with trust?
Rorschach - Malayalam
Nothing much to say as I share the same opinion as other BHPians. Brilliant acting by Mammootty, Bindu. Great cinematography, BGM and editing. Movie was a bit long and should have kept it to max 2 hours.
Rating - 4/5 (Hotstar)
Mei Hoom Moosa - Malayalam
Started off well with good acting from Suresh Gopi and timely comedy from Hareesh but then it started to drag a bit and then a lot.
Watch the 1st half and just skip through the second half.
Rating - 2/5 (Available on Zee5)
Saw 'Attention Please' on Netflix. A Brilliant Malayalam movie that highlights that story telling can also uphold a full movie without need for extensive sets.
The entire movie is also about story Telling- literally.
Very good performance by lead actor.
Some plot holes here and there which are forgivable

Finally watched this movie, and I'm happy I did. Kids too liked it. clap:
If you haven't watched it yet, do it before they go off screens, and if you have kids, do take them too, I'm sure they will like it.
Ever since it released, I was little skeptical about watching this movie since it's mostly documentary and I wasn't sure I can sit through the entire length of the movie, but boy wasn't I pleasantly surprised after watching it.
Had been ages since I last watched two movies in short span, that too in Kannada (this & Kantara) :Cheering:

The movie is as puzzling as its name. Cannot review the story because myself and my family slept off. Only time we were awake was to much some pop corns. And then tried to figure out what was going but again fell asleep. Got some coffee but still wasn't enough to keep us awake. Finally in the last 10 minutes while we getting ready to pack up, we got to know what they were trying to say. The 1 point is for some nice BGM's and Mustang show.
Cannot understand why did Mammooty sign up for such terrible movies and also produce it. |
I second you on this rating. Somehow, I could not like any aspect of this movie and stopped watching it midway.

I third that. Complete waste of time. There is nothing interesting in this movie.
Kumari (2022) - Malayalam - Netflix 3/5
Kumari is a period fantacy thriller with some horror element to it. Watched it tonight and liked most of it.
Main positive being the cinematography and songs. Overall the movie is well shot and most of the times, really gripping.
Aishwarya Lakshmi did a good job in acting. Shine Tom Chacko was good at portions and overacted at few. His voice modulation was the worst part of the entire movie. Also there was some issues in sound mixing (background and dialogues).
First half was so good that, I expected much more at the climax but it was somewhat underwhelming compared to the whole movie. Also felt the movie needed a little more trimming down and the makeup/CGI could've beed way better for the demons. (Credit where due, the makeup/CGI for the 'thuppan thirumeni' was great).
Kumari - Netflix
"A missed opportunity" - that's how I would summarise my opinion about this movie. Kerala with its deep jungles and lonely hills has a treasure trove of supernatural stories. Opening scenes of this move filled me with hope as it was tapping into this rich seam of our home grown horrors.. However, the movie losses steam pretty quickly and starts to lag. The climax when it finally arrived, killed any semblance of intrigue and terror that the movie had managed build around it's monsters till that point. An interesting premise and some beautiful locales were the only positives for me.
Godfather (Telugu)
Streaming: Netflix
Its a direct copy of Lucifer (malayalam) starring Mohan lal. This one in Telugu stars Mega star Chiranjeevi. Since I had already seen Lucifer, this one didn't have any surprise element except that Salman Khan played a cameo which wasn't worth watching either.
Avoid unless you are a Chiru fan
