According to Mercer survey, '2009 Quality of Living global city rankings' for 215 cities, Bangalore has topped the list among Indian cities.
What do you think?

I would anyday move to Chandigarh at a moment's notice.
I would have agreed 10 years back, but not now.

+1 to that.. well 8 years back.
I used to like Bangalore when the climate was pleasant and it was known as the "Retired People's Haven"
Now...NO WAY!!! I've shrugged off two orders from my employer to relocate to Bangalore. But now with the recession in full monty, I'm afraid I can refuse if they prop that up again.
Had a feel of BLR traffic on my recent drive from Cochin to Hyderabad.
Cochin to Silkboard Jn - 8 hrs 15 minutes (including 2 short breaks)
Silkboard Jn to Iskon - 4 hrs
agree:....10+ years back it did have that charm...presently its bad and on its way to worse condition:(

The subject of the poll " Bangalore being voted best city to live in " is either a joke or just plain sattire. I have been here for last 13 years and I did feel at one point it was the best but now, it is just gone to dogs .

Such polls can never be accurate. Lets say the poll has 10 cities.
Most people would have lived in 1-2 cities, and would vote for one of those cities. Now lets say most internet users belong to once city, this would mean that the city will get most votes.
well cant help cribbing can we about losing it's charm, etc , etc? ..ten to twelve years ago years ago b'lore did not have the IT industry.It was a sleepy PSU town and was not aspirational..thanks to the IT boom ,it became the most sought after destination for prospective job seekers in the IT/ITES sector and made quite a few under 30 rupee millionaires and crorepatis in terms of pay packets and ESOPs.Guess to gain something we must be prepared to give up something. Still think it's way better than the other metros even on the climate front. Just wish a green movement takes off and the metro gets ready to ease our climate and traffic woes
IMO, there is no way you can choose the best city like this. Of course you can see things like greenery, infrastructure etc. but there is more to a city than just buildings and roads.
To most people, their favorite city is one they can relate to, one where their family and friends are or even just a simple emotional attachment to some aspect of that city.

Most internet users in Bengaluru would be people who would have moved in from other places. Doesn't this add credibility to this particular city.
Do we know what factors were considered? I remember one Silicon Valley guy writing "Live in different cities in India in the month of May and you'll know why people would want to live in Bengaluru.
There have been lot of bad things that have happened in Bengaluru. But, it shows how the other cities compare with it.
