A "member only TeamBHP sticker" is my newest request. It is a sticker that is specifically given to TeamBHP members and different from the regular ones so that we may proudly display it on our cars. It commands respect, like an MLA or MP sticker, in my opinion, and we can quickly identify another enthusiast. Any corrections or improvements to this? What are the opinions of my fellow teambhpians?

If you could help guarantee that the sticker will not be duplicated outside, then we could think of it. :)
Any sticker we make can be duplicated outside - that;s why you can see all those fake LTD stickers on cabs etc. If we have a member only sticker, you can be sure that will also be duplicated - and we will have people masquerading as members by flaunting those fake stickers.
So, Where do we go now ? :)

Anyone who has specific knowledge of the design process and how to prevent duplicating it can step forward and offer their assistance.:Cheering:
Really hoping there will be a way for it.

Would you know such a member or person ?
So if you see a member only sticker, would you stop and check the authenticity ?
I dont mean to discourage you, but the point about giving stickers to members only, having member stickers have been discussed since the time TBHP stickers were introduced.

You can out a QR code next to the sticker linking to your tbhp profile.
My another suggestion to Team-BHP:
It would be great if our moderators can review 2-wheelers = Motorbike + Scooty/Scooter + Electric versions consistently.
It'll be helpful to all in knowing 2-wheelers - in terms of technical aspects + decision making.
Thank you, team, for all the great work and efforts you put into reviewing automobiles + maintaining threads of all kinds of topics.
Not sure if this question has been addressed, quick search didnt find any.
Is there a specific reason why mp4 is not an allowed attachment type? I dont find it very impractical to upload any video somewhere else and use the URL here to add a video.

Yes, we can accomplish this, but the real issue is how to prevent others from duplicating the same.

Can't speak on behalf of TBHP but typically in other sites, this is done for all media files as they are larger in size which leads to increased storage costs. Sure storage costs are reducing but then adding a URL is free!
The other thing is if one wants to view the media on the same browser tab i.e. stream it, then there are additional implications of this beyond storage (e.g. stream media across browsers, device form factors, ability to serve concurrent video users etc). All of this involves atleast money if not time.
When a url gets added, you can be sure Google is going to deliver (stream) the content in the fastest manner for free.

I certainly understand the storage requirement. But streaming of a video should not cost as it is a in build browser feature ( I did HTML coding good 20+ years ago, so things might have changed).
But I am talking about convenience here. For example if I have to explain an issue that is happening in the vehicle, that could be 1 - 2 min video. Uploading it on youtube or somewhere else and then posting link looks a real long route. So I am sure if it is storage issue, size of the video can be a restriction. Anyways thats my suggestion, I will leave it to mods to decide.

Bandwidth.
I strongly feel that video storage should be left to the specialist providers and linked to here. I think we already have unlimited size for photos, and should not want to burden the T-BHP server costs with video storage and streaming.
All - Is there any setting to prevent Auto subscription of a thread when you reply to a post? Or even if the thread is auto subscribed, a default setting for 'No emails' can be chosen?
I guess current default setting is weekly mail and there are quite a bit of emails on weekend night (batch processing?)
Also, I couldn't delete the subscriptions in mobile as I couldn't select the threads in chrome.

In your Control Panel - go to "Edit Options" and under "Messaging and Notification" you can set your default thread subscription mode. The ones you want are called "Do not subscribe" and "No email notification". My setting is the latter.

This is a UX problem in the mobile skin (the "Selected threads" - what to do dropdown is still displayed which makes it a UI problem too). You can temporarily switch to a desktop skin to do what you want, I suppose.
How about a "I need help" section?
Something specific to assistance required when you are at an unknown part of town or in a different city all together (when travelling) & you are stranded?
Was reading about someone from North India in need of help in Coimbatore - his indigo car key is broken & struck in ignition - and is struggling to find someone. If we have a section for help, members can easily connect to the needed reliable service providers. I understand many would comment that people should contact the authorised service centres in case of emergencies, but being able to connect to someone from the community here who can help to connect to the nearest reliable/ known repair shop/mechanic for a solution can be a blessing when stranded.
Team Bhp Reviews Background:
The topic has come up in the past too, and one understands that it has become a choice between:
- A shorter crisp one soon after a vehicle's launch vs
- A lengthy review coming up after a long wait.
The former would feel insufficient to many, primarily due to the high benchmarks set earlier. The latter would hurts those wishing to book the car and wanted T-Bhp's opinion to feel surer either way.
Suggestion:
To have two sets:
- Quick Impressions shared soon after launch (quite like the ScorpioN thread today). To rationalize overall time spend, this could be with minimal time spent.
- Classic old-style Team-Bhp review covering all aspects, including driving details which take some time to get a sure enough hang of. This is one of the many things which has made T-Bhp special, and IMO should be brought back. In a world full of short reviews galore, this becomes a USP.
Cars which are not expected to have much interest can only have the former (perhaps in a slightly longer 'Driven' format), whereas the more popular ones
both sets - Quick Impressions and Classic T-Bhp Review. I appreciate the extra work it would need, but one can see it as following the old format, with a short added "Quick Impressions" part for ones in a hurry to decide on the car.
Would be very happy if the above is adopted starting from ScoprioN which has had much interest with the pre-review/launch thread having
1883 posts.
