Do I need an International Permit to drive in US

Hi Guys,

I would be visiting US for some company work which would last for about 4-6 Months. I need to know if I need an international permit apart from my Indian Driving license for driving there...

I'm assuming that I do, but a fellow in my company said I don't...I can drive with my Indian license for 1 year, only after that I'd be requiring an international license...is this true?
