Just experienced it! It was cloudy, but the difference in natural light could be seen.
At 6:00 am, it was just like a normal day. At 6:10 am, there was slight darkness. At around 6:20 am, it was getting real dark just like night. This lasted for around a minute, it was as dark as night. We could not see each other's faces and we were sitting in circle in our compound.

Then it started opening and we could see the natural light increasing.
Really nice.

It rained at night so it was cloudy all along. But then at 6 o'clock, it was darker than normal. One can never say, because in North Bengal it can get so overcast that it can turn very dark sometimes. So first I turned on the TV to look at the go happenings.

Then at around 6:25, I stepped out to see the light and it grew dark. The sun got snubbed off and the day became night; the sky was the color of the night. On another morning, I would have been on my morning jog - I sure would not like to be on the road this hour I thought!

In the neighbor's house, I could hear a woman singing a bhajan. A few people were shouting "whooooooo" in the distance as it got really dark. Then the light came back...as if the sun wanted vengeance...and the bhajan grew louder and faster and she started clapping as well. The earth was safe once again.

Eclipse

Saw it! sun came out for a few minutes during peak eclipse time!
Got up at 5:30am
(which is sort of a record for me).
Cloudy, time to set the alarm to 6:15? Peak eclipse will be 6:20
Get up again, and sun is about to come out. Its dot eclipse time
Clouds are about to go away!

Finally 2 minutes later the spectacle of the century

Time to get the 850nm filter out. Use mirror lockup, but still I think my tripod is not very sturdy!

Another shot

Time to get the 700nm filter, will allow in more visible spectrum

A bare bones shot

Time for a 1/4000 shutter speed with 700nm filter. Sharpness achieved!

Finally 6:40am. clouds are back, and sun hides, but not before a final shot!

Lucky me! Went a few kilometres northwards to view the total eclipse in the morning. The view of the diamond ring was priceless. Those moments will be etched in my memory for the rest of my life. Pity that I forgot to carry the camera. The solar viewers were collected from Gauhati University which were freely distributed courtesy some NGO.

The welder's glass has a green tint...

Eclipse almost over:

A big block of dark cloud engulfs. Couldn't take the thinnest of the shadow crescent:

Sadly i woke up this morning to see the eclipse and the cloudy morning in Hyderabad spoilt all the fun.
I decided to play Pink Floyd's Obscured by Clouds and went back to sleep.
