As deeps mentioned, they explained that in the very first episode that featured "Star in a reasonably priced car".
However, it was a new concept back then, (and believe me they have been through quite a few lianas), but im sure other car companies are now willing to get some publicity though having their car on TG every week! however, maybe the suzuki contract still holds strong?
