I think there must be some BHPians who collect stamps or collected stamps "once upon a time".
The first postage stamp, the Penny Black, was issued by Britain in 1840 and pictured a young Queen Victoria.
I am starting this thread with posting the pictures of some GB postal Stamps as the first post of this thread from my collection.

Hi Abhishek,

I too collected stamps in my young days and have them lying somewhere. I used to soak them of paper, sort them out and put them in albums, those where you could slide them in, not stick them up. But that took too much time. So today I just keep them in a box.
BTW, not all the stamps put up by you are British. In fact some are Dutch, 'Nederland'. Those are the three stamps on the left side of the second last row.

Cheers harit

Yes Mr.Harit, you are right in all the ways(as usually for you!)-1)Those three escaped my eyes, but not yours! 2)Yes,when I was a mere child and started collecting, the only way was to use Hinges (I think you can recall those small strips of translucent paper),later, these type of album came-too costly those days, now there are slot type albums available.
Actually,I have given up this hobby for more than 8 years, but, few days ago I found two albums and some stamps in a packet. So,bought a new now 'basic" album (hard board album with cellofen pockets) to store them. Also tried to restore one damaged album.
It will be great to see your collection Mr.Harit,if you time, please take the shots and post them.
As you reminded of Nederland, here goes some of them from my collection along with some from Denmark.

I used to collect stamps in school. Now I have them in a collector book. Sometimes, I feel I can sell them off so that a true collector can add it to the collection and I will get some money. Win Win.

Any idea where one can sell stamps in Bangalore? (hope this query is not against forum rules).

I used to collect stamps during my 8th-10th standard, and i have roughly around 1000 stamps in my collection collected over a period of 2 years after which i didnt pursue this hobby. I have a few rare 3-D stamps from bhutan. Also i have some stamps from some nations such as grenada, syria etc. Have some unique stamps of india aswell.

Started at 6th standard. There was a chapter in our malayalam text book on stamp collection. i think most guys in our class started that time. some had their relatives in Gulf/US so they had 'foreign stamps'. Out of generosity they give me one or two that they had .I started with this. Stopped active collection some 5 yrs back. Have theme on christmas, sports, butterfly , childrens day etc. Country wise, i think i got some 120+ .
Still visit the philatelic bureau in ernakulam whenever im home on an extended holiday and buy some commemorative stamps.

Nice thread. And reminds me to take some time out to move all my stamps (1000 or more) from the box in which they currently reside to a proper album.

I too have lots of stamps which I am fond of. Started it when I was around 10yrs old. I tried to revive it about 5 yrs back, but could not find enough time for it :-(.

ashwinsid,cbzire,rajesh1868,Rotorhead and supremeBaleno can you take the shots and post them?
I really dont have time each day to spend for such time craving hobby-I took almost past three months to reallocate them giving 30 mins each day for them.
The stamps you bought for just some paise may be now rare!

Today,I am posting something special from my collection-they are from France, some of them are very old (~1890).

These collection of bykes and Cars are NOT from my collection. They are being sold through a website.

Hi Abhishek,

Which is the website which sells these stamps ?

_Vishal

Hey! I'm a Philatelist too!! :D

I've got a whole stamp album dedicated to it!
Unfortunately, I only have a few ones from abroad.
Mostly Indian ones.(been collecting since school time!:D)

Will post pics soon

@sohail99: please post your stamps pics...nice too see

@cbzire: there are several sites from abroad which sells stamps (if you I can give you address).Ebay.in sells stamps in India;sometime you can get a whole collection for a less price.Better to buy from stamp dealers locally;so that you can see what you are buying.if you are new to this hobby, avoid buying foreign mint (=not used postally) stamp, because, fake stamps are largely sold, instead opt for used good condition stamps. As you will be experienced, you will know how to check fakes.

Now,this collection is from Italy:

Here are some pics! :D

There might be some repetitions, sorry for that!
For quite sometime now I haven't seen any new stamps! :deadhorse

Posting some collections from Germany...
