Thank you, and good to hear from you. Being a Malayalee (which, almost by default implies, meat eater) helps a lot in enjoying the LCHF diet. There will be changes in your body. First thing I noticed was a change in bowel activity. Give your body some time to get used to it. Avoid temptations. Keep at it, like your life depends on it (it does, actually!). Weight loss will not be linear. Monitor your weight daily (this is what kept me going, even if the loss was a mere 50 or 100 g). If you consume alcohol, you must cut down as much as you can.

Bang On. Not just the Default Meat eater tag, but the way we use Cocunut, in our dishes is also a great help. Coconut oil is great to have in an LCHF diet becuase of high Fat content.
There will be a change in Bowel habit, some may get constipated. Trick is to keep drinking lots of water and try to include lot of green leaves too for the fiber content.
Coming to alcohol, Stay away from Beer completely. It will kick you out of Keto in no time.
Have been watching this thread ever since my weight was hovering in the late nineties (in weight), but never made any honest attempt to reduce. Touched 110 now.
Been diagnosed with HypoThroid and have been on medication since 2012 (been told its life long and its something I inherited from my maternal side).
Do have more symptoms of Hypothyrodism : Weight gain/feeling tired and irritated/joint pains/dry skin/heavy breathing.
Had a ACL tear in 2009, which was operated, after which my weight graph went north. I was a bit fit till that.
Have been taking excuses of ACL/HypoThyroid for my weight gain when someone asks.
Yesterday, the doc handed me a report that I've been diagnosed with Borderline Diabetic (Been under tremendous stress lately on professional and personal, which could be another reason).
Have been advised on high protein 1400k diet. The doctor put me on to a "dietitian" in his clinic and I am not convinced that she is a actually a dietitian based on the inputs she gave me. Can take a couple of advises, though
Have been asked to reduce the sugar to 1 spoon in the coffee. I dont take more than 2 coffees per day and sometimes in office, will be skipping the evening coffee as well.
Have been asked to stop coconut, though I am not completely convinced with that.
Been advised to take Rice (1.5 katori) in a day along with veggies, salad.
I m a eggeterian and looking for some expert advice on bringing it down to 90 at least in 3 months. please:
Will be starting walking from tomorrow for 15 mins, for my knees to get used to and slowly increase to 30 mins during weekdays and 45 mins in weekends.
I have lost ~10 kgs in approx 2 months. Was hovering around 95 kgs. Height would 5'11.
Boiled vegetables, dal, steamed fish, albumen, fruits is what I ate and I ate only when I was hungry, in less proportion, just enough to eliminate the hunger pangs.
Bowel movement did go for a toss initially but I feel a lot energetic/lively. Many more postive effects.
Wish to lose more but now it is difficult to lose further. While I won't ever go back to packaged foods or oil rich diet or fats, sometimes I do eat a bit when I am hungry...what to do here?
As suggested by dear bblost, have almost eliminated wheat from diet and eat very less of rice, sometimes.
I have breakfast or early lunch and leave home, on work the food cooked is the usual stuff. Rice, vegetables/fish, with no option, I eat 1/3rd of what I used to. Can't carry food [some limitations are there]
I used to weigh a lot and had waist size of 44 in 2010 but with diet modifications and everyday brisk walk of 6-7 kms now have waist size of 33.
I eat everything but in moderation, exercise everyday, I go for brisk walk if its freezing, super hot, foggy, raining, at 2:00 AM does not matter. My moto is if I can eat and work everyday then so can I exercise.
Only thing I never ever do is drink liquid sugar drinks such as juices or soft drinks.
In my view don't start anything that cannot be implemented life long as diets don't last and neither do gyms. Instead moderate & smart eating along with a simple exercise routine for which you are not dependent on any external factors.

Firstly download a Calorie & Activity tracker App (If on Android Samsung S health is a good one)
Divide your meals into small portions and try to keep the calorie count under 1400 by calculating the intake via myfitnesspal.com (it has calorie calculation for most of the Indian food items)
1.5 katori boiled rice is close to 180 calories and to add you can have it with plain dal or sambar. Avoid cream rich or fat rich graves & dals. Have maximum amount of Salad's without dressing tough.
Also for breakfast you can have a Protein shake (Optimum Nutrition or other brands) with half milk and half water. As you eat eggs, try and consume 6 eggs boiled (6 whites & 3 yolks) with it. This would give you the energy till lunch. Lunch can be the 1.5 katori of rice with dal(avoid rice at night). Have a small fruit for your evening snacks. Dinner can be some soup or salad and soup.
Also 2 teaspoon of sugar would not harm but stick to 1 teaspoon for 1 cup if coffee.
Try to search for good veg calorie rich recipes on the internet.
And yes best of luck for the weight-loss journey.

:thumbs up
Never be hungry.
That is the key to success in a diet. But I am also stuck in the upper 90's so my advice aint really worth much. :D
If you are going to starve then soon resentment will come. That will bring anger and disgust. Soon you will abandon the diet and go crazy.
The cycle will keep on repeating.
Keep some healthy snacks like Almonds, Walnuts, Cucumbers etc.
All the best.

Spot on! That's what is silver bullet solution for failed diets and statements like "I tried everything, but didn't work".
First of all the weight we have put on was due to years of bad eating & lifestyle habits. It won't shed out in just short time. And after loosing considerable amount of weight, if one go back to same old lifestyle, same weight gain is going to come back. Hence permanent change in lifestyle is important. Whatever be the diet plan, exercise plan, does not matter, even if it does not give fast weigh loss results. It does jot matter whether your diet plan helps to loose 5kg per month or 2kg. But consistency is important.
I also have been through multiple diet/gym cycles and all lost weight used to come back eventually. So this time my goal is also to change lifestyle. I try to stop itch to measure weight loss each day or week, i try to not see diet as punishment/routine deviation, but opportunity to explore new food cooking areas which I never tried earlier. Instead of gym weight lifting, i am using body weight for muscle building exercises. Permanent change is important.
So main goal is not to loose weight, but to change lifestyle. This helps psychologically to not wait for the day when we hit target and can stop diet and go back to routine food and lifestyle. Permanent good health = permanent lifestyle change.
Can't resist sharing one before and one after photograph. The before picture is of mid November. The after pic is of 5th February.

That is awesome. Sheel thanks for sharing an amazing transformation.
Please do share more information on this.

This is incredible Sheel sir. I read your FB post that you achieved this transformation by only following a diet and no exercise involved.
Please share some details, very eager to read about your transformation story.

Inspiration came from this thread itself. Mostly from Imran, Samurai & others. And I can't thank each of you who has contributed.
As said, no packaged food, no oily & usual stuff. Boiled vegetables, fruits, juices [from fresh fruit], albumen, grilled/steamed chicken/fish, pulses, grams and puffed rice with dry maize/peas etc. Things which don't contain oil. If I ate a small portion of porridge [khichdi] I mixed home made ghee in it, just one drop. You need that as well but in less quantity, much less than what comes out in spoon.
Eating as less as required and eating as much as necessary to keep hunger pangs away.
Best thing is, no anxiety, mood swings, hyper tension. I am calm, cool & relaxed. Stamina has improved as has concentration and positive thinking.
Congrats Sheel, on an excellent transformation.

Why no oil and only albumen? Edible fat is necessary to absorb all the vitamins you getting through the food. They are also source of amino-acids.
Please eat eggs fully, don't skip the yoke that is required to absorb the albumen. Nothing wrong in eating moderate amounts of coconut oil, ghee and cheese. It is in fact required in a balanced diet.

Full agree Sir. I was avoiding yolk initially.
Now, if I am eating 4 eggs, then I have 2 or 1 with yolk. Yes, have started eating a bit of oil, but only when it is really requid for cooking purpose.
Me: Male 36-years 6 feet
03-Nov-2016: 97.5 Kg
10-Feb-2017: 88.5 Kg
Total Loss : 9 Kg
Target: 75 Kg
I started off by consulting with an online firm specializing in fitness and nutrition consulting and was locked in for 3 months after paying 10K. I soon realized that I paid super high premium for what I got out of that programme.
I had my own learnings and did lots of internet research and am planning my own diet now.
My weight loss has accelerated in last 2 weeks.
All this is done ONLY by diet and ZERO Exercise.

This is one such dish. A large chicken with skin cut into 8 pieces.
Into a pressure cooker with some salt, herbs, spices and butter. NO WATER. |
I marinate the chicken using curd, papaya, ginger & garlic paste, add a bit of salt, no oil. Keep it in fridge and cook 2/3 pieces in oven whenever I am hungry. Hope I am doing it right.
Any method to marinate fish?
