Need help: Change of name in Passport: RPO Bangalore

Hi,

We want to apply for "Change of Name" in my wife's passport as we got married a year back. Both mine and wife's passport was issued from Ahmedabad and we are staying in Bangalore right now. We don't want to change the address in the passport as we are staying in a rented house but just want to change her name in her passport. As per the Bangalore RPO website, one needs to furnish two copies of address proof along with other documents (marriage certificate etc). She does not have any address proof for local address here as Rent agreement is on my name.

So, here are the doubts I have -
  1. Can we apply for only "Change of Name" without changing the address? I'm asking this because there is a field for present address in Application Form 1.
  2. Can I submit the rent agreement as her address proof? Other address proof than we can provide is letter from her company. Is that acceptable?
Anyone who has recently gone through this process? Please provide your valuable inputs. Any pointers to a good agent will also be helpful.

I did this 7 years back.

That time I had to submit Marriage Certificate (issued by the Government) and the local Address proof.
The Address proof can be in your name.
Check the Blore RPO site if they accept Rental agreement as Add proof.

If you dont want a change of address, then best to do it in Ahmedabad. Approach an agent, if you know one.

A Basic question:

Why do you want to do this? As you haven't mentioned, passport is expiring?

If you have marriage certificate, you will not face any problems for overseas traveling and visa application.

You can always aim for name change at time of renewal.

i am doing the same.

Passport is expiring in 2017. Don't want to wait till then.

So looks like changing the name only without changing the address won't be possible in Bangalore.

Why bother for "change in name"? endorse marital status in both passports and you're done.
