Giving up tea? You must be kidding. It is something that I started at the age of 2.
Yes, as per my parents, I threw up hell lot of tantrums to get my daily cup of tea, at that age.

May be some issue with the internal wirings.

One cup in the morning, one at around 4pm. These two cups are must.
There is no limit to the maximum cups, though. I prefer black tea - the ones without milk.

clevermax, you would have got the clue by now. Milk is acid inducing, and tea/coffee acts as a catalyst in the process. Where as black tea is not that much damaging.

Herbal tea is supposed to have medicinal values.

Sticking with just 2 cups of tea, ~10.00AM & 4.00PM.

Cheers!

Give up tea, but why in the name of all that's wonderful?

Give up tea? Give up Darjeeling tea?
I am not out of my mind yet!
I am trying to get myself a pack of Makaibari tea, arguably one of the best Darjeeling teas in the world.

Another favourite is Earl Grey.

Give up tea? Not on your life Sir.

Never even can dream about leaving tea. I keep on feeling sleepy till I get my cup of tea. But don't drink too many, only 2-3 cups a day. Morning and then afternoon/evening. Actually I feel so sleepy without a cup of tea that my friends told that I've an addiction problem. I like both milk (the one I make myself;-) ) and black tea. Somehow couldn't like the green tea.
Nowadays having coffee also but that doesn't do the trick for me.

Yes I got it. But I don't like black tea, otherwise it has to be black coffee for me, but in my experience, that is not good for my stomach either. Giving up is the best, at least the morning one before breakfast.

My Coffee/Tea-less days starts tomorrow. Don't know how long it's gonna last, may be a week, may be two days. Will wait and see how it goes. Last time when it happened accidentally, I started having a terrible headache by afternoon, just 24 hours after the last coffee but in between consumed a lot of C2H5OH as I was at the Oktoberfest in Munich.

I started drinking Tea on a regular basis only during my Post grad days & till 1 year or two back I used to have Tea just to give company to people around me. I used to have my chocolate Milk till last year.

This reminds me that I need to get back to that habit of drinking milk again

Now I have 2 cups of tea or max 4 on a long day.

And yes I too suffer from acidity problems.

No, no. Coffee does not have the same effect. Coffee (black or with milk) is acid inducing.
In fact, for people suffering from acute GE, ginger tea is advised. And coffee is strongly discouraged.

When it comes to health, tea beats coffee hands down. This is not my opinion, but those of scientists.

I found this thread topic vague, T/C is not drugs or intoxicants for heaven sake that we should give up!
I know Coffee contains caffeine, but Tea is mostly harmless, infact good for health esp Green tea widely consumed in Middle East.

In India, I am mostly on Tea ( 2 - 3 times a day), and when I am abroad it is mostly Coffee.

Tea is supposed to be one of the healthiest drinks around. Cannot ever think of giving it up.

In fact, I advise people professionally to have a lot of it .

But Tea also contains caffeine. But it is milder than coffee I think.

My view is anything that's not "needed" doesn't have to be in my diet. There are many good things that people have discovered and have kept changing their opinion. But to me the healthiest drink is water. I know some people who have had ginseng and other herbs for no reason and have gotten into trouble.

As far as having it for taste is concerned, it' a different story alogether. I still have it if it's a rainy day, wifey makes pakodas and insists I have a half cup of spiced tea.

Off late I have stopped advising anybody to have something because it's good for health. If it's "needed", yes, I do advise it.
hypothetical scenario: what if 10 yrs down the line somebody discovers it causes irreversible damage to one's body over generations.

EDIT: I stopped it in my college days because my family was used to very high sugar level in tea (still is) and I just didn't like it.

Tolerance, addiction, withdrawal? Aren't we talking about those? clevermax is forced to quit, and looking for sharing the experience with/from others. But at the moment he is in a clear minority as others are swearing by their favorite drink. No one ever gives up, looks like.
