File an RTI application. You'll be (pleasantly) amazed at how effective it is in getting things done, provided everything else is in order.

My wife's passport renewal was stuck for a month after police verification with the website showing the same status. Filed an RTI, got a message that passport was dispatched the next evening. Could be coincidence, could be not. Worth a try.

Instead of straight going for RTI, we instead mailed to the PRO taking their mail IDs from the webpage.

Received reply in couple of days confirming the status and timelines. Concerned person grossly happy with the responsive way of concerned officer at Pune RPO.

Dear All, I would appreciate a quick yet very important help from my seniors here.

I had visited the PSK ITO Delhi for passport renewal on the Jan 8th, 2018. All went well there, did not have to visit counter C as the office at the counter B asked me to go towards the exit counter straight off.

The police verification status is mentioned as "N/A" in the acknowledgment letter that I have received. So far, there has been no update and its saying that "application has been submitted along with all the applicable fees and payments".

I am slightly worried as its already been close to a week now.

What shall be done in this case?

Regards.

I will say stay put. January 8, not even a week.

N/A can equally mean NOT APPLICABLE.

So I will wait for a week or two before venturing out. I am aware of PPs being issued in two days to three weeks. It depends on the load. Also, remember Haj season is here, so the load may be higher.

Sir, many thanks for the response and appreciate your feedback. Certainly much helpful. I was getting apprehensive as I usually hear passports being issued in real fast - like just within a week's time.

Just Relax! You will get passport soon.

I guess you must have provided your AADHAR as addrees proof. That is the reason police verication is not needed.

It was same in my case last year when I renewed my PP. I got my PP in 8 days.

That's very reassuring to hear, @yoscenario2000. Thanks. Yes, I did provide AADHAR as my address proof, but there is a change in address. Change in city in fact.

On a different note, you've said that you got your PP within 8 days, honestly, I was anticipating something similar. But its already five days, and the status hasn't moved a bit - it still shows "all the documents have been submitted". Hence, the jitter. please:

I was expecting similar processing times when I applied for re-issue of passports for my family. Police verification wasn't done for my son (below 15), but was done for my wife and daughter. Same address as in previous passports for all by the way, and Aadhaar provided, so wondered why police verification was done. Anyway, passports for wife and son came within two weeks from date of appointment, whereas it took nearly four weeks for my daughter's passport to arrive. For her too, the status didn't change for a long time. It kept saying verification report has been submitted and passport will be printed soon.

So, there you go. You have a range...from 8 days to 4 weeks. So, stop feeling jittery and relax...! Enjoy the weather! ☺

Did you opt for the SMS option?

When I had to renew my passport last year, I had opted for the SMS option. By the time I came home from the PSK, I had received an SMS stating that the passport documents have been verified and have been sent for printing.
Next day I received another SMS stating that the printing has been completed and pending Quality Test. I had received the passport in 5 days.
That was not the case with my wife though. Her passport took about 2 weeks but the status was regularly updated via SMS.

The SMS updates help in knowing the status, though it is a chargeable service.

Hi, Thanks for the update. Yes, I did opt for it. The only status came from sms or can see while checking online is that all the documents have been submitted and fees have been paid. Upon calling the office, I came to know that my file hasn't been open as yet. Someone said work load is high and wait for 10-12 days at least, but that's just a random and casual statement he made to hang up the call.

Got the passport for my newborn in just 2 days flat under the normal category. My appointment at PSK was on 8th Jan, Passport was printed on 9th Jan and despatched the same day. Got it home delivered via speed post on 10th Jan.

The whole process at the PSK hardly took me about 14 minutes. My appointment was at 12.30 and we were out of the the PSK at 12:44 with the "Passport Granted" status on the exit acknowledgement slip.

I would rate my experience with the PSK as 10/10.

After getting my wife's passport renewed I noticed that in the first page where the signature is supposed to be there of the RPO is missing. Anyone faced this issue before? What is the remediation available? A new passport again? This page is the one where plastic is laminated.

To quote myself, went to the regional passport office and they admitted the mistake and rectified it, without any requirement of paperwork or other doc's. Maybe coz it was a major blunder on their side.

Understood. May I ask you which PSK you had visited?

Incidentally, I was there in the ITO (Delhi) PSK the same day, the same time slot was allotted to me as well. I did not have to visit the Counter C as the Counter B officer directly asked me to go towards the Exit counter and leave. The status mentioned ON HOLD and Police Verification N/A. The same status was given me to everybody who left with me with the assurance that the work has been done.

I didn't see any status change after a week and hence visited the PSK today. They said that the application has been sent to PV. Upon contacting my police station I came to know that nothing has come to them as yet. Not sure what the issue is!

It’s been more than a month since I submitted my documents for passport renewal. But, there has been no update from the passport office. The online status just shows that documents were submitted on 11/12/17. The telesupport also talks about the same thing and suggested to wait.

I am worried. What should be done?

Ps- I applied at Gurgaon Passpory office

Almost the same situation as mine. Did you have to visit counter C? And, does your acknowledgment slip mentions ON HOLD?
