Hi TBhpians :)

Was just going thru eBay India n came across this item listed.

Item number: 6441632130

sounds intresting...

ya man...but dont know if its a success or failure :)

If you see it says in the listing that they are giving "plans only", no actual equipment.

I know that hydrogen cells are a hot research topic among scientists and R&D divisions of major auto companies.

I do NOT think that this is a DIY (Do It Yourself) concept as of now.

One can get plans manufacture hydrogen fuel cells anywhere on the net.. But has anyone thot about the cost implication and anyways its not a proven system as yet that the system will work...
So i think its just a big farce...
Cheers

Nice way to make some money. Am putting up another for sale thread which reads " Run your car ONLY on air"

GTO

nothin doing till it is all public and proven.

I think BMW has a Hydrogen car. Will the same specifications go here?

the book appears to be on the principle of hydrogen combustion- and that, is definitely possible; this's a different concept from that of the hydrogen fuel cell- in a hydrogen fuel cell, hydrogen and oxygen ions combine to produce high electricity, which is powering a electric motor; in the "electrolysis" process, H and O are separated using electricity, and is directed to a internal combustion engine, which, functions as per the norm.

now, the pros-

a) excellent calorific value from H, so much more power possible from a similar displacement gasoline engine.
b) the cleanest possible combustion.
c) extremely environment friendly, and much more efficient.
d) maybe hydrogen powered cars could outrun gas or methanol powered dragsters...

cons-

a) hydrogen isn't that easy to be electrolysed- almost 85 KWH of electricity is needed to produce 1 kg of hydrogen.
b) although much better, H is also extremely inflammable- meaning, controlled combustion is a tedious task- a lot of forged components will have to be involved...
c) the electrolysis process takes a little time; so the electrolysis chamber would have to be constantly supplied with high voltage, and the production of H may not be proportional to the rate of consumption of engine...

etc...etc...

but DAMN...i had an idea like this a long time back; in fact, i still did till about two- three years ago, until i found out that somebody else was already into it, somewhere in atlantica or something... i believe i had posted a note about this on a thread, "alternate fuels" somewhere else on the forum...

a great idea, though- and somebody is already working on it, which means that we could see a fully functional prototype in a couple of years...

p.s- i don't trust that ebay item, though....

a long time back (more than 15 years ago), my dad had seen an ad in a paper, in delhi, quoting a "new generation mosquito-terminating machine". after sending some petty amount as money order, we received that "new generation mosquito terminating machine" - a fly swatter....

now this could be something on the same lines...
