Acres Club - Chembur

Is anybody enrolled as a member of Acres Club at Chembur. I am thinking of becoming a member but would like to have some feedback. The club is privately owned and developed. It is belonging to one Mr. Natwar Parekh, an industrialist probably. The club has good facilities but the only thing worrying me is the private ownership as against Gymkhana-Clubs, which is managed by members and owned by a trust or something.

Thnx

The facilities are quite decent. But as you said, the private ownership is a dicey scene. One such club at vashi (big splash) where I was a member closed down and there was absolutely no clue about the future.

Especially now, since the membership is atleast a coupla lacs, I would not take a chance.

Rather, I would suggest you try and check if the memberships are open at Chembur Gymkhana. Great amenities and low risk.

Scuderia, yes Big Splash turned out to be fraud. But was it ever a full fledged club? The Acres Club has 1000+ members and the property is huge.

Setup cost is one thing... but running a full-time club is an expensive proposition.

Also, i dunno whether the club had a break-even with 1000 members.

Personally, I would not be very keen about a private club.

I've stayed there in June 2006 and was highly impressed by their service and facilities. Now whenever I go to Mumbai and don't have much work in Juhu area (which normally is) I stay at Acres. It is also marked on my GPS as a waypoint..

The Acre club is owned and Managed by by Family friend Mr. Apurva. Parekh. We have also had our vintage car events over there and the Service and Fasilities at the club are very nice. In commparrision to other Gymkhana clubs the place has a personal touch to it and feels homely. They are into something related to shipping as well so there is nothing to worry about in relation to you looseing money or them shutting down without notice.

I am a member of the Chembur Gymkhana and am happy with the services that it provides. Why not check out the place?
