Ashish checked up with AF contacts and they say no it is not being done by either AFS Agra or Yalahanka. Plus they dont plan to do it any soon either so its a no go guys atleast here in India from the services atleast. Another closest thing is probably a ride in a micro light which is being offered at the Haveli resorts near Murthal on NH1.

dunno about India, but there are lot of non-tandem options abroad- refer "accelerated free fall"
In AFF- the instructors hold on to you initially with just their hands (as opposed to being strapped on to them in tandem)ultimately you have to open the parachute

have to try out this when I get enough $$$, though somehow I dont think the rush will not be as great as a bungee

I had a plan to do Tandem dive in Atlanta in 2007. But I had undergone small stomach surgery that time and decided not to do it.

It cost $250 (incl video charges).

I did a tandem dive couple of years ago from 15,000ft. This was from Perris vally skydving in California.

In india I have only heard of paragliding not skydiving.

Re: Skydiving - Where and how

I just did a tandem skydive a few weeks back, at Lake Elsinore, CA. Paid $280 for the jump + pics and video.

Not sure if India has any options for skydiving. Even if there are, would prefer not to do it here because of the safety concerns.

Re: Skydiving - Where and how

For some reason I am a little circumspect about doing it in India.
Primarily because these are not permanent establishments.

Perhaps these are some new ones, and may well be good.

Do not let my comments deter you. If you feel like it, go for it!

What are these Kakini chaps credentials.

I would say research them properly, meet the owners or organizers, quiz them about safety measures and then consider it.

Thing is in India there is no health and safety regulation to speak of, in terms of compliances in order to obtain a license for such activity.

I would not want to find out the 'hard way' because on account of someone else's negligence I might end up knocking on St Peter's door around thirty five years too early...

Re: Skydiving - Where and how

You do not need any reputed organization to do skydiving. Even safety equipment is not needed. Only if you want to skydive twice, you need safety.

Speaking of skydiving, we fulfilled the dream in Europe for 10K/head(pics and video included).
I hope some reputed permanent setups come in India so that people who want to skydive more than once can also do it.

Others have already spoken about the safety concerns. Cost wise, this looks too expensive. For the price of this tandem dive you can fly to Dubai and do it.

Even parachutes are not needed, I guess the free fall would be worth dying for.

Last of all, in case of accidents here in India, you will get the least sympathy.

May sound stupid, but that makes it more thrilling (for me).

For those who have done it earlier, please write down your feelings about it for us unprivileged Indians

Re: Skydiving - Where and how

Folks,

I recently come to know about a sky diving camp to be held at mysore. I am bringing this forth for the attention of interested people and needless to say, 'I am, in no way associated to these people and neither am I trying to promote any commercial venture'.

If at all anyone decides to go for these, please do a bit of research on the safety measures and credibility of the people offering it. I am posting just as an INFORMATION. It sure looks quite expensive though.
Here's the link
