I think India have a great chance to go all the way along with Australia and England. They are surely going to reach the semi-finals but in knockout game, anything can happen.

If true this will be interesting.

I really like Dilip.

But, I love Jonty since I watched his flying run out against Pak. Haven't seen a better fielder than him in my lifetime.

Let's see what transformations he does with the team as most are already good fielders.

Also, someone please change that good for nothing batting coach Vikram Rathour. Too many collapses keep happening and he still holds on to his job.

Looks like I stand vindicated rl: rl:

India’s T20 squad for Zimbabwe is a young IPL team. I think Sanju is the oldest in the team.

Squad: Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande

Missing out - Tilak, Patidar and Harshit Rana, T Natarajan

Edit: And Varun Chakravarty too and he posted on social media, wish he had a PR agency :D

Good selection, make this a core team for 2026 and make very few changes and stick to atleast 10 players from this list.

Chakravarthy needs a lot of work on his fitness & fielding. He should concentrate on that.

Guys, any idea if there’s an ad-free stream available for the final? The ads are so badly and abruptly interspersed by Hotstar. Usually we’d record and watch later but a non-live experience isn’t great either. Would happily pay extra. Thanks.

Meanwhile in Chennai, Indian women smashed a sensational 525/4 on the opening day of the one-off Test against South Africa. Shefali Verma scored a Sehwag-esque 205 off 197 balls, studded with 8 sixes and 23 boundaries. Incredible performance from the team. clap:

I don't think we have any ad-free streaming of live matches. Regardless of whether you watch it on Hotstar or the Star Sports Network, you would still have to watch the advertisements. :(

What a fantastic win for Team India. The highlight of the match is that this is match in which almost all played their role well. With the ups and downs it was a great entertainment as well.

Rahul Dravid as the Indian coach has not had a spectacular reception from the media; the dearth of notable titles not helping. With a World Cup title on his resume now, his performance might at last get the accolades it rightly deserves.

Responding to your posts here, since it would be off-topic for that thread.

If you want to be strictly technical about it, BCCI is a private organization, and hence, the Indian cricket team isn't exactly a "national" team in the true sense of the term. There are several other sports, where the governing body is actually the Indian Govt. (/ the Ministry of Sports to be precise).

The state of sports that are governed by the Govt. is deplorable.

It is India's national team for all practical purposes. What team do you think India is sending for the LA28 Olympics T20 ? Also Cricket is not merely a sport in India, its India's soft power and a massive industry.

Yes, this cricket team is not a national cricket team. All people rooting for this team are idiots, they should rather chant 'BCCI....', 'BCCI...' instead of 'India...', 'India....'

No VIP treatment should be given to this team as this team is a 'BCCI' cricket team.

When late Mrs. Indira Gandhi welcomed the winning team in 1983 and when Narendra Modi welcomed the winning team, they should have kept caution and should not have shown over enthusiasm and not used government machinery in welcoming a private winning team

Especially a step by AirIndia to give preference to this private BCCI team should be totally deplored as done by respectable forum members on other thread and this private team should be treated just as ordinary citizens, as technically this is not a national team

I may have been naïve in thinking this was an 'Indian' cricket team and supporting with my heart, but thanks for enlightening me that I was channeling my energy to support a private cricket team in a stupid way. Only saving grace is that I may be called stupid, but will not be called jingoist for supporting a private cricket team, thank god !

Should the participants in this forum be worried about getting infractions for referring this team as 'Indian' team instead of a 'BCCI' team?

Best regards
JLS

Agreed. Completely. This is certainly the national team and the one we're all proud and excited to support.

I don't think anyone is blaming the cricket team here. Someone arranged for a flight, they took it. If they had known that it was a flight that had to be diverted and inconvenience several passengers, they probably would have had an opinion on that.

Similarly, what could Air India do? Refuse political pressure at such a high level? Face the wrath of a cricket-worshiping public, that too after a long-awaited WC win? I don't hold them responsible either.

But why did the richest cricket body need to divert a passenger flight? Surely they could afford a charter flight from some other source, however expensive.

See guys, this is the beauty of this situation. We're going at each other, taking sides, making this about the cricket team, and about Air India. While the people who actually engineered this aren't even in the discussion or in the news! That's well played, the way we're always getting played against each other.

Let's just forget this and get back to cricket.
