Agreed. Completely. This is certainly the national team and the one we're all proud and excited to support.

I don't think anyone is blaming the cricket team here. Someone arranged for a flight, they took it. If they had known that it was a flight that had to be diverted and inconvenience several passengers, they probably would have had an opinion on that.

Similarly, what could Air India do? Refuse political pressure at such a high level? Face the wrath of a cricket-worshiping public, that too after a long-awaited WC win? I don't hold them responsible either.

But why did the richest cricket body need to divert a passenger flight? Surely they could afford a charter flight from some other source, however expensive.

See guys, this is the beauty of this situation. We're going at each other, taking sides, making this about the cricket team, and about Air India. While the people who actually engineered this aren't even in the discussion or in the news! That's well played, the way we're always getting played against each other.

Let's just forget this and get back to cricket.

A 'national' team of the most popular sport in our country was given a preferential treatment and a passenger flight was diverted for their journey.

Assumption here is that BCCI was not able to get a charter flight or was not ready to spend money for a commercial charter flight and wanted a low cost and loss making AirIndia to give a favor to cash rich and profitmaking BCCI
Are we pointing to BCCI for this 'engineering' ?

Or are we pointing to ruling dispensation for doing this engineering? And their motive is that they explicitly want to cause misery to those passengers whose flight got cancelled?

Any other pointers to other engineers, who could have done this engineering marvel?

In this process, we are doing everything like splitting hairs on why this is not a 'National' team, like analyzing and exposing what are AirIndia's deficiencies, like commenting on how some 'engineers' are doing engineering to explicitly cause problems to passengers etc, but not commenting on cricket.

But right, all name calling and finger pointing has been done and now we can get back to cricket

Thanks

JLS

Looking forward to the new look cricket team against Zimbabwe tomorrow, I hope Sanju Samson is now given a very long rope at #3

Sanju, Jaiswal and Dube(Replaced injured Nitish Reddy) not part of first two T20s due to the extended celebrations. Jitesh Sharma, Sai Sudarsan and Harshit flew to Zimbabwe as replacement. Most likely XI for first three matches would be
Gill
Abhishek
Ruturaj
Riyan
Rinku
Jurel
Sundar
Bishnoi
Avesh
Khaleel
Mukesh

What kind of useless series this Ind vs Zim is? India has won the World Cup just days before and Zimbabwe didn't even qualify to participate in the same.

Indi 61/7, the young brigade falling off. Will need to get ther act together tomorrow. If we loose which looks like the case, first game india will loose in 2024.

News headline:

World champions lost to Zimbabwe

Whoa! India's 12-match winning streak in T20Is has come to an abrupt halt. Zimbabwe has defeated the newly crowned "T20 world champs". I've never been a fan of a second-string team representing India in internationals, whether it's in a series against lower-ranked teams or tournaments like the Commonwealth Games. International cricket is no joke, no matter who you are playing against. India missed a fantastic opportunity to stitch together a record winning streak, which Malaysia and Bermuda (yes, you read it right) currently hold at 13 matches.

Well played, Zimbabwe! The players and fans can celebrate, which they'll surely do.

You were saying :D

Zimbabwe played brilliant cricket.
Our top order batters were batting as if it's a net practice. Absolutely irresponsible. Except for Gill no one showed any application.

I wasn't so much interested in this series but this defeat has made this interesting. Would be fun.

Also, this kinda series is good. Need to check out new crop of players. Just being ipl heroes won't work in International world for many.

If speaking too soon needed an example :D

However, my point was that what point this series brings home. Not only feels redundant but also irrelevant. Hardcore cricket lovers may disagree. :)

Sitting on the couch, I casually commented about the Indian team's drastic loss.

From somewhere deep inside the kitchen came the query:
Quote:

Which team; the original or the duplicate?

A free Sunday morning led me to this discovery: the types of DUCKS in an innings:

Quote:

  • Golden: Getting out on the first ball faced by a batsman
  • Silver: Getting out on the second ball faced by a batsman
  • Diamond: Getting out without facing a ball
  • Royal/Platinum: Getting out on the very first delivery of an innings.
  • Laughing: A duck out that ends a team's innings

Sourced from the internet.

All these IPL stars need a reality check! They need to know where they stand. The way they played it was clear that they didn't see the target but only wanted to stamp their authority!

Pure arrogance and prejudice of playing against a "lowly" team.
Nonetheless, I appreciate that this is a young side and haven't played much as a team.
Just like learning to ride a cycle, a few falls are acceptable.

Abhishek Sharma century in 2nd match in 46 balls, this guy is here to stay. Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma should be our openers from here on.

Well done!

I just saw a picture of Ishan Kishan dancing in some high profile wedding that reminded me, why wasn't he picked for the Zimbabwe tour, any idea?
