I'am with you dude. Karthik has to play now. Dhoni can sit out for next match atleast. Just think, he will be our ODI captain a captain w/o scoring runs and with butter fingers :Frustrati |
dont quite agree with the butter fingers tag. He has improved as a keeper immensely. has had a good series in the capacity of a keeper. But he is supposed to score runs as well! He has failed miserably on this account for sure. Karthik has already staked claim for a place with a good practice game.
BTW its 38/0. steady progress. The lead is now 156.

Aha .. now you are talking. Lots of ghee and ethanol for you. Just wanna confirm, ethanol is made from sugar(cane) na?
Here we go.....Jaffer gone, now shutters down for the rest of the day I guess
Jaffer bids farewell to the Perth wkt. He has been a horrible traveller. I remember reading a piece about him by some ex-Indian cricketer. The ex-cricketer's view was Jaffer is not international class. He is best suited to desi conditions. How true is that!!!
Pathan in as night watchman, hope this doesn't backfire!!!
I think Dhoni should be retained. He was batting quite well and the umpire messed up the LBW decision (ball clearly bouncing over the stumps). Dhoni is a gutsy performer, and never gets over-awed by any situation. He is a decent keeper as well.
If at all Karthik comes in, it would have to be as an opening batsman. Even as I write, I see that Jaffer is gone again, to a loose shot outside off-stump. So it should be Karthik in place of Jaffer.
But at least our opening batsmen in this Test took the shine off the new ball and made it easier for our middle order. If Sehwag can keep up the good show, he should be retained.
Edit: Pathan as night-watchman. I do feel for the man. Why couldn't the skipper Kumble treat Pathan as a valuable lower-order batsman? Kumble could have taken the call himself and come in as night-watchman. It seems they just don't want Pathan to settle himself into this Test team. Anyway, Pathan has guts and I hope he will take this as an opportunity and put in another useful score.
Dhoni, just playing in one game does not become hero. Compared to Karthik, he is not good. He has to sit out himself.
As far as this match goes, I think Suman (the friendly astrologer??) predictions may come true :-(
Well currently not looking bad at 50/1.
EDIT: 52/1 at close of play.

quite a valid suggestion rks. makes a lot of sense. Jaffer's only contribution has been to take the shine off the new ball. however, one expects more from him being an opener and a frontline batsman.
He has done his chances no good. I hope the team management is reading your suggestion. :)
Jaffer is good only in India. If you see his record outside is really not encouraging.
he has a double hundred in west indies, not many have that. :)

where the wickets have really become "Indian" in the behaviour since the last 8-10 years. So that doesnt really count.
Guys, has the day ended prematurely after 11 overs or what? No updates seem to be coming in on the site?
